CC Madhya 10.16

tathāpi rākhite tāṅre bahu yatna kailuṅ
īśvarera svatantra icchā, rākhite nāriluṅ

tathāpi—still; rākhite—to keep; tāṅre—Him; bahu—various; yatna—endeavors; kailuṅ—I made; īśvarera—of the Supreme Personality of Godhead; svatantra—independent; icchā—desire; rākhite—to keep; nāriluṅ—I was unable.

“Still, I endeavored very hard to keep Him here, but because He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and completely independent, I was not successful.”
