RE: Brahmana initiation and parampara
Dear Ramesvara,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Prabhupada.
I’m writing in regards to the message I mentioned on the phone about brahmana initiation. It should be published and circulated to all the centers. Prabhupada said too that, “to receive brahmana initiation, it is not simply on time basis only. But actually, they should be qualified and, above all, they should not be lazy or sleepy. ”Brahmana initiation should be more strict in this sense that the men should be learned in our philosophy. Prabhupada wants that all of our disciples not only sell his books but also learn them and be able to quote them. As an example, just like a lawyer uses cross references in court. He immediately quotes the lawbook. So, we should become so learned in this philosophy that we can quote in reference with any statement we make and give evidence and examples from the scriptures. This is wanted.
Srila Prabhupada is now very much eager that our society become fixed in the parampara, and that the devotees should solve all the problems without having to bring them up before His Divine Grace. When letters are received about someone’s own difficulties or indecisions, Prabhupada says “why have they not taken this up with the GBC in their zone.” Prabhupada will be pleased when he can see we are doing everything nicely without having to disturb him. Prabhupada just recently said when he received some request for advice, “why can’t I be left to translate my books. This is why I’ve created the GBC to deal with all these problems.” So, if there is any problem that your GBC cannot solve, then other GBC’s should be consulted and the GBCs can consult amongst themselves for some solution. Kindly let us not disturb Srila Prabhupada in this way anymore.
Your eternal servant,
Guru Kripa Swami
