Dear Subbaraiduji,

I have been instructed by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada to reply your letter dated 27th May, 1977. While I can very much appreciate the sentiment you have expressed, for dating everything by the Krsna Era, in our publications we follow the general dating system, so as not to cause confusion. Sometimes however, we calculated by the appearance of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. This has been the system followed by our previous acaryas and so we must keep true to them and continue in the same way.

Yours sincerely,

Tamal Krsna Gosvami
Secretary to His Divine Grace
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
