November 20, 1977

From: Tamal Krsna Goswami

My dear Jitarati Prabhu,

Please accept my obeisances. I beg to thank you for your letter dated November 2nd, 1977.

As your letter was of interest I read it to His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada. Here are Srila Prabhupada’s comments: “They are not meant for culture. Hopeless. Everything is restricted there. China has sacrificed everything. How human society is falling down. Don’t try for China – sa eva gokara.” So this is the fourth time that Srila Prabhupada has told me to forget about preaching in China. Unless His Divine Grace directs me otherwise, I am not going to become involved in this preaching as according to Srila Prabhupada, it is not fruitful enough. Gopal Krsna das Adhikari has applied to the Chinese Embassy for his visa so he appears to still be somewhat interested. It is up to you whether you want to continue in this direction. I have my directions from Srila Prabhupada so I cannot disobey them. I thank you very much for your report and hope that this meets you in the best of health and Krsna consciousness.

Your servant,

Tamal Krishna Gosvami
Personal Secretary to Srila Prabhupada
Jitarati das Brahmacari
