671018 - Letter to Prabhus from Ramanuja

Calcutta,

18 October, 1967

From Ramanuja

[Included in 671018 letter to Mukunda]

My dear Prabhus,

Please accept my obeisances. You have the good news. Swamiji could leave tomorrow if he wanted to. So you can expect him soon. He doesn’t plan to stop in Hawaii or Japan any more so he will be there shortly.

Today I shaved all of the hair of my head except for the shikah. And was given dicksha, which means I am now a Bramin (in reality we Vaishnavs who chant are all Bramins). Also I will become a priest which means that I will perform the rites at birth, marriage, death etc.

I will send you girls saris as soon as possible your saries.

It seems that Brahmananda has come to his senses as to where Kirtanananda is (he is now gone crazy), by the grace and mercy of Krishna. K was preaching such nonsense at N.Y. but swamiji has now forbidden him from speaking at any of our temples. It seems that he got puffed over being given sannyas. There are very many fine sannyasin here in India, one of whom we are trying to get free passage to USA. Anyway we should pray for the return of Kirtanananda’s sense. Swamiji says that everything will be all right once he returns. Hope you are all well.

Your servant in Krishna

Ramanuja das
