671019 - Letter to Hayagriva from Ramanuja

Calcutta,

19 October, 1967

From Ramanuja

Dear Hayagriva prabhu,

Please accept my obeisances (Obieseness). It was very nice to receive your letter and I can tell you that I sympathize with you in your present occupation. I was a student once and can just imagine the lot of the teacher being at least twice as bad.

We are quite the celebrities in Calcutta. People come from miles around to see the Swami who has preached in America and his two disciples. But as usual He is over working. He won’t stop seeing anybody and lately he has been getting tired. Also his sister won’t quit giving him sweets, the more I forbid it the more sweets we are served. But luckily we won’t be staying here much longer. Wilkes-Barre couldn’t possibly be like Vrindavan as you have suggested in your letter. It is so beautiful. You can literally see vibrations coming out of the ground. The whole place is absolutely out of this world. I am afraid that I will be unrecognizable to you as I have Cut off all of the hair on my face & head. Also I was given the sacred thread ceremony.

I hope you come to India before the 9 months are up.

Your servant in Krishna

Ramanuja das Brahmacary
