720229 - Lecture Festival Gaura-Purnima - Mayapur

His Divine Grace
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

720229GP-MAYAPUR - February 29, 1972 - 63:09 Minutes

Prabhupāda: . . . commit any sinful activities, that is required. So far his past activities that is excused during the time of initiation as soon as he chants—but one should not commit again. This is very important point, not that I am a great chanter of Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra therefore let me do all kinds of nonsense. No, no, one should be very much careful so; apavitraḥ pavitro vā sarvāvasthāṁ gato 'pi vā yaḥ smaret puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ (Garuḍa Purāṇa). This is Kṛṣṇa, the name Kṛṣṇa is identical with Kṛṣṇa,

nāma cintāmaṇiḥ kṛṣṇaś
caitanya-rasa-vigrahaḥ
pūrṇaḥśuddho nitya-mukto
bhinnatvān nāma-nāminoḥ
(CC Madhya 17.133)

The name of Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa: non-different. The name of Kṛṣṇa is as pure, as complete, as spiritual as Kṛṣṇa. Abhinna-tvārnm—there is no difference between name and the Lord, in the material world, relative world, there is difference between the substance and the name. But in the spiritual world there is no such difference everything is spiritual. So this transcendental Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra is not a sound production of this material world.

It is the transcendental vibration from the spiritual world, golokera prema-dhana, hari-nāma-saṅkīrtana. Golokera prema-dhana, this hari-nāma-saṅkīrtana is not a man-made musical sound. No. Golokera prema-dhana, this is the song to develop love of God and it is descended as Kṛṣṇa descends, avatārān. Avatāra, similarly the sound has descended so there is no difference between Kṛṣṇa and His name. If we chant carefully without any offence then our life is successful. This is the meaning of this verse:

namo apavitraḥ pavitro vā
sarvāvasthāṁ gato ‘pi vā
yaḥ smaret puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ
sa bahyābhyantaraḥśuciḥ

Bahya means—external; and abhyantaram—internal; both ways, one should always keep purified, cleansed, bahyābhyantaraḥ. Bahya means—externally—so we should take regular bath three times with soap, oil or even if one cannot get soap. Then ordinary dirt he can smear over the body and become fresh. Cleanse the teeth, cleanse hands, legs, no nails, these are the cleanliness. "Cleanliness is next to godliness," unless you cleanse yourself outwardly externally, you cannot be purified internally. And internally purified means always chanting, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, so keep yourself always cleansed bahyābhyantaram. Then gradually you will be completely purified.

How it is possible? This material body how it can become purified? Yes it can be, the example is just like you take an iron rod and put it in the fire and get it warm, it becomes warm, warm, warmer and at last it becomes red hot. At that time it is no longer iron rod, it is fire. You touch anywhere it will burn, similarly if you chant Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra regularly according to the principles then gradually the your whole body becomes spiritualised. Then it is apāpa-vidham no more sin. So you have to make your life completely pure then you will be admitted into the kingdom of God, back to Godhead, back to home. Thank you very much.

Devotee: All glories to . . .

Brahmānanda: Śrīla Prabhupāda. The 10 offences.

Prabhupāda: Now you just hear the 10 kinds of offences. Read it.

Brahmānanda: Yes. There are 10 kind of (break)

The offences are as follows:

To blaspheme the devotees who have dedicated their lives for propagating the holy name of the Lord.

To consider the names of demigods like Lord Śiva or Lord Brahmā to be equal to or independent of the name of Lord Viṣṇu. Sometimes the atheistic class of men take it that any demigod is as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Viṣṇu. But one who is a devotee knows that no demigod however great he may be, is independently as good as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Therefore somebody thinks that he can chant "Kālī, Kālī!" or "Durgā, Durgā!" and it is the same as Hare Kṛṣṇa, that is the greatest offense.

To disobey the orders of the spiritual master.

To blaspheme the Vedic literature or literature in pursuance of the Vedic version.

To consider the glories of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa to be imagination.

To interpret the holy name of the Lord.

To commit sinful activities on the strength of the holy name of the Lord. Because by chanting the holy name of the Lord one can be freed from all kinds of sinful reactions. It should not be taken that one may continue to act sinfully and after that chant Hare Kṛṣṇa to neutralize his sins. Such a mentality is very dangerous offense and should be avoided.

To consider the chanting of Hare Kṛṣṇa to be one of the auspicious ritualistic activities which are offered in the Vedas as fruitive activities karma-kāṇḍa.

To instruct the faithless person about the glories of the holy name. Anyone can take part in chanting the holy name of the Lord, but in the beginning one should not be instructed about the transcendental potency of the Lord. Those who are too sinful cannot appreciate the transcendental glories of the Lord and therefore it is better in the beginning not to instruct them in this matter.

To not have complete faith in the chanting of the holy names and to maintain material attachments even after understanding so many instructions on this matter. Every devotee who claims to be a Vaiṣṇava must guard against these offences in order to quickly achieve the desired success.

Prabhupāda: Tahole, oitaki age ekhon hobe? (So, now will that happen before?)

Devotee: Hmm hmm.

Guest speaker (1): Ati priya gurubhrata, advut chamatkarite poripurna, aisaryer prakashak, dhamer prakashak, dhamesvarer prakashak ebong dhamesvarer abhistha paripurak, Sripad Svami Maharaj dhanyabad. Tar karya kalap ati uttam amar cokhe lagche. (My dear Godbrother. Filled with wonder and astonishment. The revealer of opulence. The revealer of the dhama, the revealer of the Lord of the dhama and the fulfiller of the desire of the Lord of the dhama. Sripad Swami Mahārāja, his activities are appearing to me to be very exemplary.)

Amar aradhya devata, Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur, punah-punah paschatya desher katha bolten. Ebong sei deshete Gaura Sundararer katha besh bhalo kore procar hok, eta tar antarer gabhirtama desh theke punah-punah utthita hoto, ebong tari katha tini amader samne bolten. Sei uddeshye tini Gaudiya Missioner procarakder pathiyechilen sekhane dui bar. Tate, procar kichu hoyechilo, kintu prakrta pakshe amar Gurudever manabhista puran hoyni. (My worshipable Lord, Om Vishnupada Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur, time and again used to talk about Western countries. And in those countries, may the words of Gaurasundara be preached extensively. This used to repeatedly come up from the very innermost chamber of his heart, and he used to talk to us about this. For this purpose, he had sent preachers there from the Gaudiya Mission twice. Some preaching did happen because of that. But factually the heart's desire of my Gurudeva still remained unfulfilled.)

Sampurna bhabete yar iccha chilo ta hoyni. Keno? Gaura Sundarer, mukher ukti pṛthivīte āche yata nagarādi grāma, sarvatra pracāra haibe mora nāma, tar ekta iccha chilo, Gaura Sundarer nija iccha ye, tar ye subha nam, kalyan prada, mangal prada, ananda prada, sarba jibi, sarbattam, banchaniya bastu prada ye nam, sei nam sarvatra bitarita hole, sakal jiber sarbattam kalyan sadhita hobe. Tai tini tar nam sarvatra procarita hobar iccha prakash korechilen. (The complete fulfillment of his desire didn't happen. Why? The words of Gaurasundara, that in every town and village my names will be chanted. He has this desire that Gaurasundara's own wish that His auspicious name, giver of the real welfare, good fortune, bliss for all living entities. The giver of the highest desirable object, that holy name. If it can be distributed everywhere, then all the living entities will be bestowed with the highest welfare activity. Only for this reason He expressed the desire to spread His name everywhere.)

Sei icchar paripashakta korte ceyechilen amar Gurupad Om Vishnupad Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur. Angsik bhabe tar prakat kalete seti paripurita hoyechilo, baki procur parimane baki roye giyechilo. Seti ami dekhchi amar Gurupad padmer abhista, tini beshkore paripuran korchen. Paschatya desher byaktiganer acaran, byabahar yeta purbe ye procarakgan giyechilen tara dekhe bibhinna bhabete bolechilen. Ebong tader paribartan kora asambhab, eiprakar acaran . . . eiprakar sabdero shrabaner suyog hoyechilo amar. Kintu sei asambhabke, sambhabe parinata korechen Sripad Bhaktivedanta Svami Maharaj, Srila Prabhupader ebong Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakurer krpa, ashirbar prapta hoye, eiti amar mone jagche. (My Gurupada, Om Vishnupad Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur wanted to fulfill that desire. To some extent his desire was fulfilled during his manifested pastime, but the majority of the job remained pending. Now I am witnessing that the heartfelt desire of my Gurupada, is being fulfilled on a grander scale. The lifestyle and habits of the westerners, those preachers who had gone earlier had mentioned that it is impossible to transform them, I had the opportunity to go to hear such words. But that impossible task has been made possible by Bhaktivedanta Swami Mahārāja by the mercy and blessings of Prabhupāda (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur) and Bhaktivinoda Thakura, that is what I am feeling.)

Tai Bhaktivinod Thakuro geyechilen, kabe setajne ebong krsnajne, kola kuli kore Gaurer nam sankirtante sakale mete uthbe, edin kobe hobe? Eta Bhaktivinod Thakurer abhipre . . . abhipray chilo. Setajna ebong krsnajne milita hoye Gaura Sundarer vani, Gaura Sundarer nam, dham, kamer procar hok. To setio tar abhilasho paripurita hocche bole amar mone besh pakadharana hoyeche. (Therefore Bhaktivinod Thakura sang when that day will come when the fair coloured and dark coloured people will jubilantly engage in the nama sankirtana of Gaura, when will that day come. This was also the desire of Bhaktivinoda Thakura, that the fair coloured and dark coloured people together will preach the teachings of Gaurasundara and His name, abode and pastimes. Now I can very confidently assume that this desire of his is also getting fulfilled.)

Bhaktivinod Thakura khub sukhi hocchen, tar ye abhilashita karya Svami Maharaj sampadan korchen bole. Ebong ajasra dhare tar shirse ashirvad pradan korchen, yar phalete bujhte para yacche ye, tar nay ekjon brddha ashi bachor hote coleche ei prakar byaktir pakshe, ye karya tini korecolechen bibhinya sthane gamana-gaman ebong probal utsaher sange granther procar. Ye grantha sarvattam grantha bole hindu sastre santatan dharmete barnita hoyeche, Veda, Vedanta, Upanishad, tari bhasya Srimad-Bhagvata sei Srimad-Bhagvater pracarer jonyai Mahaprabhu bole gelen sei Srimad-Bhagvater procar ami dekhchi paschatya deshe besh bhalo korei procarita hocche. Dainik pacis hazar takar grantha bikr hocche. (This is making Bhaktivinoda Thakura very happy as Swami Mahārāja is doing his desired job and he is bestowing unlimited blessings unto him. As a result, we can understand that an old person like him, who is about to turn 80, the type of activities he is undertaking, traveling extensively at various places and the printing and distribution of literatures. The book which is described as the topmost in the Hindu scriptures and sanatana dharma, Vedas, Vedanta, Upanishad, the commentary of that Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, that Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam which Mahāprabhu told to preach. Now I can see that the preaching of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in the western countries is happening very nicely. Everyday books are being sold to the tune of 25,000 rupees.)

Kṛṣṇer lilar, charit, gun, baisistha samandhye apurba katha sei grantha niye tara porche ebong tai janbar janye byasta hoye utheche, bibhinya desher lok, pascatya desher lok tara Indian philosophy sarvattam besh shuneche, kintu janbar janye egiye ele ar jante parena. Ei prakar ekta abastha eshe porechilo Bharate. Kintu ami ekhon dekhchi ye Kṛṣṇer sammandhe janbar bhari suyog hoyeche. (The writings on Kṛṣṇā's wonderful qualities, pastimes, narrations, these they are reading and became very eager to know. People from all over the world, western world, they heard that the Indian philosophy is the highest but when they came forward to know more, they couldn't do so. There was such a situation in India. But now I am seeing that there is a great opportunity to know about Kṛṣṇā.)

Gaura Sundarer sammandhe janbar tader bhari suyog hoyeche. Keno? Maharaj Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita, Gita, Srimad-Bhagavat English translation kore, tar tattva besh kore Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu ityadi durlav grantha, bhaktir katha bistrita bhabete yate barnita royeche seguli sob procarer besh bhalo byabastai korechen. Etoh purbe engreji janalok yara, tara sakale beshir bhagi nirvisesh vad, Shankar byak . . . shankarer ye bhasya tar byak . . . byaksha yukta ye grantha tari procar tara kore giyechen. (A great opportunity has come for them to know about Gaurasundara. Why? Because Mahārāja have translated Sri Caitanya-caritāmṛta, the Gita, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in English, with in depth philosophical commentary. Also Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu etc., rare books which describe about bhakti in detail—he has made excellent arrangements to distribute those books. Before this most of the English speaking people, almost all of them, they have promoted the nirvisesha vad, Shankara Bhasya and books with his commentary.)

Bhakti granthero English translationo bishes nai, ebong se granthe adarkore tai shikhe, tar procaro sedike ekhon paryanta hoyechilo na. Tai amar Gurupad padma bhaktir katha procarer jonya tar shisya bargake sedeshe pathabar jonye byakul hoye uthechilen. Tar byakul bhaber madhya diye khanikta procar hoyechilo, bartamane ami dekhchi tar baki abhilas paripurane Svami Maharaj pracur sahayata korchen. (There was not much English translation of the books based on bhakti, and those books didn't receive much adoration or almost no preaching happened. For this reason my Gurupada padma became anxious to send his disciples to preach the words of bhakti to the western world. Some preaching happened because of his anxious endeavors. Now I can see that Swami Mahārāja is greatly contributing to completely fulfill the desire of him.)

Amar mone hocche Prabhupāda (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur) sekhan theke bhari santusta hoye tar opor pracur ashirvad korchen. (I am realizing that Prabhupāda (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur) has become extremely pleased with him and from there he is showering torrents of blessings upon him. (voice choking))

vāñchā-kalpa-tarubhyaś ca kṛpā . . .

Devotees: Haribol! (break)

Prabhupāda: . . . (indistinct Bengali) (break)

Guest speaker (2):

om ajñāna-timirāndhasya jñānāñjana-śalākayā
cakṣur unmīlitaṁ yena tasmai śrī-gurave namaḥ
vāñchā-kalpa-tarubhyaś ca kṛpā-sindhubhya eva ca
patitānāṁ pāvanebhyo vaiṣṇavebhyo namo namaḥ
namo mahā-vadānyāya kṛṣṇa-prema-pradāya te
kṛṣṇāya kṛṣṇa-caitanya-nāmne gaura-tviṣe namaḥ
(CC Madhya 19.53)

Revered Swamiji, and the devotee's, I first of all offer my prostrations before you. As today is an auspicious day and we are staying here in Śrīdām Māyāpura where Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu over 186 years back appeared. There today is His birthday and an auspicious because our revered Mahārāja has laid the foundation stone for the future temple which will be higher and highest one in Bengal. He has done a lot of service in this cult propagating the message of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu throughout the world as it is told in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam:

tava kathāmṛtaṁ tapta-jīvanaṁ
kavibhir īḍitaṁ kalmaṣāpaham
śravaṇa-maṅgalaṁśrīmad ātataṁ
bhuvi gṛṇanti ye bhūri-dā janāḥ
(SB 10.31.9)

Bhuvi gṛṇanti ye bhūri-dā janāḥ, one who distributes śrī-nāma, nāma-saṅkīrtana, the divine name he is called a great . . . donor. That is not an ordinary donor, but the greatest one. Because Caitanya Mahāprabhu though he was born in the poor brahmin family He never give anything solid to the public but he gave kṛṣṇa-prema.

So now who is distributing the nāmam throughout the world? He can be called the greatest donor. That is he is scattering the divine name throughout the world. From north pole to south pole, eastern and western hemispheres none prior to him has done such greatest service to humanity. So we can respect him and we cannot able to . . . we cannot be able to describe his greatness through our few words. So this much I can say now because all of our people will speak in Bengali, please hear, of course one thing is many of you do not know Bengali.

But in Kṛṣṇa has got 64 guṇāms in it He has got one qualification, vividhādbhuta-bhāṣā-vit. Kṛṣṇa knows all the languages spoken, animate and inanimate so naturally the jīva also has got infinitesimally that quality to know the languages even languages spoken by others. So if one speaks in Bengali though you don't understand actually ātma can understand it. So don't bother about it, so they will speak in Bengali our Dāmodara Mahārāja will speak.

Dāmodara Mahārāja: (break)

. . . mano-'bhīṣṭaṁ sthāpitaṁ yena bhū-tale
svayaṁ rūpaḥ kadā mahyaṁ dadāti sva-padāntikam
namas te gaura-vāṇī-śrī-mūrtaye dīna-tāriṇe
śrī-rūpānuga-viruddhāpasiddhānta-dhvānta-hāriṇe
vāñchā-kalpa-tarubhyaś ca kṛpā-sindhubhya eva ca
patitānāṁ pāvanebhyo vaiṣṇavebhyo namo namaḥ
namo mahā-vadānyāya kṛṣṇa-prema-pradāya te
kṛṣṇāya kṛṣṇa-caitanya-nāmne gaura-tviṣe namaḥ
(CC Madhya 19.53)

Aj amader khub anander bisay. Amar ye pujya pad Tridandi Svami Srimad Bhaktivedanta Svami Maharaj tini samgra pascatya jagate Sriman Mahaprabhur prema bhaktir katha, suddha bhaktir katha tini procar kore aj Sriman Mahaprabhu protimarta ye dham, aprakrta ye dham sei dhamete tini Sri Gauraharike prakash karbar jonye tar hrdaye . . . hrdayesvar sthapana karbar jonye tini sekhan theke Vaikuntha prerita, Bhagavat prerita hoye tini aj ekhane upasthit. (It is a matter of great joy for us today. My worshipable Tridandi Swami Srimad Bhaktivedanta Swami Mahārāja has spread Sriman Mahāprabhu's message of prema bhakti, pure bhakti to the Western world. He has been sent by the will of the Lord from Vaikuntha to manifest and establish the Lord of his heart Sri Gaurahari from the spiritual Dhama and he is present here today.)

Amar ekti bisaye balbar ache ekhane. Bigata du-bachar purbe uni yakhon Americay puja korchen, takhon sekhane amar . . . or nam procarer prati ye ekta drdah nistha, Kṛṣṇar nam, rup, gun, lila parikar baisistha prattek bibhag alada koreche. Sriman Mahaprabhu bolechen "pṛthivīte āche yata nagarādi grāma, sarvatra pracāra haibe mora nāma". (One thing I wish to say. About two years ago when he was worshiping in America, at that time, the strong determination that he has to spread the holy name, Kṛṣṇa's nama, rupa, guna, lila . . . consisting of all these, each and every section is different. Sriman Mahāprabhu has said that in every town and villages of the world my name will be chanted.)

Namer uparei Sriman Mahaprabhu jor diyechen. Nam yekhane, sekhane nami. Kṛṣṇa himself sekhane. Nijei tini sekhane prokasita nam, rup, gun, lila . . . (indistinct) . . . sphurita namete abirvuta hoye thaken. Nami rup, nami gun, nami lila, nami parikar paristha. Sutarang Nam sankirtan Srila Jiva Gosvami Sat Sandarbhate srestha bole pratibadan korechen. Tini sei srestha nam samagra jagate tini procar korchen. (Sriman Mahāprabhu has given stress on the nama. Where there is nama, the owner of the name is also present there, Kṛṣṇa Himself . . . He Himself is manifested there. Nama, rupa, guna, lila . . . simultaneously emerge in the spontaneous nama. Nama is form, nama is guna, nama is pastime, nama is entourage. Therefore Srila Jiva Gosvami in the Sat Sandarbha has established nama sankirtana as the highest process. It's him who is distributing the most glorious nama across the globe.)

Tini Sriman Mahaprabhur krpa shakti dvara avistha hoye, ye kajti korchen, sei kaje kono pratibandhak nai. Arthat Vaikuntha dharma, sekhane kono kuntha nei. Kuntha yekhane sekhane jagater bicar, badha, bighna, maya ei samasta biparit bhabete kuntha dharmer pratik rupe te ese amader mahat karye te badha diye thake. (By getting induced by the power of Sriman Mahāprabhu's mercy, the activities that He is performing, there is no impediment. That means in the Vaikuntha dharma, there is no kuntha (anxiety). Where there is kuntha, that comes under the domain of the worldly affairs, impediments, obstacles, illusion all these opposing elements comes as the symbol of kuntha dharma and create obstacles in our illustrious activities.)

Kintu yekhane akuntha bicar, Vaikuntha bicar, Golok bicar sekhane 160 degree . . . 180 degree bicar parasta hoye yacche. Ei jonye asangsader bicarete pratisthita hoye ye kaj seta hocche, Vaikuntha bicarer kaj, Vaikuntha dharma. Amader kaji . . . amader sei Vaikuntha dharmete amader protibha ebong udvasita hote hobe, pratisthita hote hobe. (But where there are akuntha consciousness, Vaikuntha consciousness, Goloka consciousness, there are even 160 degrees . . . 180 degree opposing elements are getting defeated. Therefore, by remaining steady in that consciousness, whatever activity is done, that is an act in Vaikuntha consciousness. Vaikuntha dharma. We have to, all our qualities have to enlightened in that Vaikuntha dharma, have to be established in that Vaikuntha dharma.)

Tai Srimad-Bhagavata bolechen sa vai puṁsāṁ paro dharmo yato bhaktir adhokṣaje ahaituky apratihatā yayātmā suprasīdati (SB 1.2.6), atmar prasannata labh korte hole ye kal paryanta Kṛṣṇapad padme amala rati, matir uday na hocche, sekal paryanta atma prasannata nai. (That's why Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam has said, sa vai puṁsāṁ paro dharmo yato bhaktir adhokṣaje ahaituky apratihatā yayātmā suprasīdati (SB 1.2.6). In order to achieve satisfaction of the self, until the time unmotivated devotion to the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇā is awakened, until that time the self can't be satisfied.)

Prabhupāda bolten ye, Kṛṣṇer seva sekhane hobe yodi ekta suvra puspa Sri Kṛṣṇer pad padme nibedan kara jay. Ekti cetan atma ki kore Kṛṣṇer pad padme deoya yay, ei jone Prabhupader ekta byakul, mane ekta antarik ekta pracesta tar dekha yeta. Ei atma puspa, atmai hocchen prakrta pakshe Kṛṣṇer pad padme nibedita haoar upyukta bastu. Sutarang sei ye, soul yetake amra bolethaki engreji te sei atmake samarpan korte hobe Kṛṣṇa pad padme. (Prabhupāda (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur) used to say "The real service of Kṛṣṇā will be that if one can offer one spotless white flower can be offered at the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇā." How one whitened soul can be offered to Kṛṣṇā, for this purpose Prabhupāda (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur) used to anxiously and sincerely endeavor. Atma Puspo (soul as a flower). Actually only a soul is the appropriate thing to be offered at Kṛṣṇā's lotus feet. So that thing, what we call soul in English, that soul needs to be offered at the lotus Feet of Kṛṣṇā.)

Sei atma nibedan kshetrete bartamane amara sakle upasthit. Sei atma nibedan kshetre adhisvar hocche Sri Gaura Hari, sei Gaura Sundarer pad padme atma nibedan kore yara diksha grahan korlen, tara bhagyavan, ei bisaye kono sandeha nai. Mahaprabhu sakalke alingan diyechen. Sri Bhagavan tini ta tini . . . Vaikuntha bastu tar bhitare kakhono kuntha dharma thakte pare na. Yekhane kuntha dharma, sekhane matsarya, yekhane kuntha dharma sekhane pratirodh, biradh eita Vaikuntha dharme nai. (We all are present now in that soul offering field. Sri Gaurahari is the Lord of that soul surrendering field. Whoever has taken initiation by surrendering themselves in that lotus feet of Sri Gaurasundara, they are especially fortunate, there is no doubt about that. Mahāprabhu has given His embrace to everybody. Sri Bhagavan, He is an object of Vaikuntha, it is not possible to have any kuntha dharma within Him. Where there is kuntha dharma, there is envy. Where there is kuntha dharma there is resistance, opposition. This is completely absent in the Vaikuntha dharma.)

Vaikuntha dharmete sakalke Bhagavat sammandhye darshan, ebong sakalke Bhagavat tattvate niyog, ei karyati hocche Vaikuntha dharmer vrtti. Sutarang amra sei . . . bisesh kare ami ekta katha bolte yeye bhule gechi ye, gata du-bachar purbe amar hrdayete Prabhupāda yena, tini ekta inspiration dicchen ye, 'tumi oke janao, tumi oke janao ye tini yena ekhene tar . . . tini . . . pratistha kore tar pracarer kendramul, kendra ekhne tini pratistha kore samagra jagate karuk', eti yena Prabhupāda amake bar bar oke janabar jonye amake prerana dite thaklen. Ta ami oke bar bar patrer madhyame ami janiyechilam ye, Maharaj apni Mahaprabhur, Srila Prabhupader sthan, Sri Gauranger sthanke ashray kore apni jagate procar karun. (In Vaikuntha dharma everyone is given the knowledge of God, and everybody is engaged in Bhagavat tattva, this is the activity at Vaikuntha. Therefore we . . . I forgot to mention one thing. About two years ago, there was a feeling that as if Prabhupāda (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur) is giving some inspiration to my heart, asking me to intimate to him that "Let him establish this place as the center of all his preaching mission and spread it all over the world." As if Prabhupāda (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur) was repeatedly inspiring me to intimate this to him. Accordingly, I also informed him through letter multiple times, that Mahārāja you kindly take shelter of this place of Mahāprabhu, Srila Prabhupāda (Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur), the place of Sri Guru and Gauranga and then preach all over the world.)

Vittita, foundation ta strong hole seta bhalo, mane karyata khub bhalo hobe, ei bole ami, oke punah-punah ami patrer dvara, madhyame ami take janiyechilam. Yodi ami tar theke bayose onek kanistha, tini amar jestha Gurubhrata, tathapi amar bhetare eirakam ekta Mahaprabhu, Guru Gauranger preranay sei amake dhakka hrdaye punah-punah dhakka dite thaklo. Ami take na janiye parlam na. Tai ami take patrer madhyame, take ami janiyechilam. Ta amar sei ashata aj paripurna holo ye, Mahaprabhu take, Sri Om Vishnupad Srila Prabhupāda, Om Srimad Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur mahasay, Om Vishnupad Srila Gaur Kishor Das Babaji Maharaj, mahapurushgan ebong saong Sri Gaura Sundar take akarshan kore aj ekhane ene take, tar parikar mandalike ekhane ene, tini taderke ekhane pratisthita kore ekhane sevay pratisthita kore Mahaprabhuke tini prakash karbar jonye tar hrdayete ekta ananda iccha hrdaye jegeche. (If the foundation is made strong then the job will be done well. With this message I have intimated him time and again through letters. Although I am much younger in age compared to him, he is my Senior Godbrother, still such an inspiration of Mahāprabhu—Guru Gauranga came to me and shook my heart repeatedly. Let them serve the dhama and Sri Guru and Gauranga, this is our aspiration. Especially my humble submission is that this mission in which Mahārāja has dedicated himself, may that mission be accomplished with all success. This is my heartfelt prayer. I offer my heartfelt prayers at the lotus feet of my Sri Gurupad Om Srimad Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Prabhupāda, at the lotus feet of Sri Gaurasundara and at the lotus feet of Srila Thakura Bhaktivinoda, that he may become victorious. Devotees' victory is God's victory. This is known to all. Gurupad padma, nitya lila prabistha Om Vishnupad Srimad Bhakti Saranga Gosvami prabhu jaya yukta hon. At present, my teachings . . . he who have spread all over the world the pure teachings of love of Sri Caitanya Mahārāja, pujyapada Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Swami Mahārāja and his associates - may all glories be upon them.)

Ta Svamiji Maharaj tini sei adarsher purnata lav korechen. (Worshipable Srila Swami Mahārāja, at the current time, the way he is preaching Caitanya Mahāprabhu's pure message, by this I hope that most of the living beings of the world will become jubilant. We can see here itself the success of Caitanya Mahāprabhu's words. Sriman Mahāprabhu has preached in different directions by his dear associates. Amongst them, such as in the jiva uddhara lila, that everybody, each and everyone have the right to chant the Harinama, Harinama is the religion of the soul, He has exemplified this in this world by Srila Thakura Haridasa. Swamiji Mahārāja has achieved the pinnacle of that exemplification.)

Ei prakar ye, sastrer madhye ye Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu ye katha bolechilen pṛthivīte āche yata nagarādi grāma, sarvatra pracāra haibe mora nāma. Kintu annanya deshe yeta America ekhono ba prthibir annanya deshe yeta procar hoynai seiti Srila Svamiji Maharajer dvara seti paripurna hoyeche. (Like this, in the scriptures, what Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu had said, "In every village and town of this world my names will be chanted." Although these words were mentioned in the scripture but in reality what will be the exact actualisation, many had doubts on that. But at the present moment one can see the success of those words. My spiritual master, having entered in the eternal pastimes, Om Vishnupada Srila Bhakti Saranga Gosvami Prabhu, he preached the message of Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu in foreign countries like France, and after two years of preaching because of some work request, returned here. But in other countries, in America or in any other parts of the world where no preaching was done, that have been fulfilled by Srila Swamiji Mahārāja.)

Eiye Mahaprabhur ye prya parshadganer ye cinta dhara, ye bicar dhara, seta satti satti Srila Svamiji Maharajer ye pracar karyer madhye theke amra seta laksha korte parchi. (In fact, here Sri Caitanya Mahāprabhu, by means of this preaching activity, what is the real duty of a saint, to every living entity . . . (break) Yesterday, in relation to the subject, I discussed about Basudev Dutta Thakura. When Sriman Mahāprabhu was giving benediction to the devotees, then He told Basudev to ask for a boon. In reply Basudeva said: "By seeing the sufferings of the living entities my heart is pierced with deep grief, please give all the sinful reactions of all the living entities to my head, let me suffer hellish life for their sin, kindly deliver them from the material disease". Such was the thinking, the mood of Mahāprabhu's dear associates, and that same thing we can actually see here by the preaching mission of Srila Swamiji Mahārāja.)

Amader ye guruvarger ye satti satti maner abhista seta, tar prya janaganer dvara dharabahik bhabe, ei rakam bhabe ye pracarita hocche, eta khubi anander katha. Prithivite bahu sampradaya, bahu sadhu samaje ye samasta dayar katha, ye samasta procarer katha, sei samasta procar, sei samasta daya eikhane ekebare sampurna bhabe parabhuta hoyeche. (The real heartiest desires of our spiritual masters, that preaching is happening consistently by his dear people like this, it is a matter of great joy. And it is a matter of great fortune for us, the way Swamiji Mahārāja has attracted people from different countries and gave them shelter to the lotus feet of Sriman Mahāprabhu, and given them the right to serve, we can't find anything else which can offer a greater compassion than this. In the many sampradayas and many saintly communities present all over the world, the type of compassion and the type of preaching that all of them can offer, all of those compassion and preaching got completely subdued here.)

Sei janya ami, mane sarva sheshe ei Svamiji Maharaj, tini amar sikshaguru, barabari tini amake sneha korechen. Ami Svamiji Maharajer carane punah-punah pranam janacchi. Tini aro Mahaprabhur krpay tini dirga jivi hoye ei Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhur katha jagate aro procar hok, ebong Srila Sarasvati Thakurer ye gan achen, tara sakalei Maharajer seva, procare sahayata karun, tahole amra dekhe hrdayer prati ananda lav korbo. (So in finishing, Swamiji Mahārāja, who is my siksa guru, he has always shown affection towards me, I am offering my obeisances, again and again, at his lotus feet. May by the mercy of Mahāprabhu, he lives a long life and may the message of Mahāprabhu spread more and more across the globe. And all the followers of Srila Sarasvati Thakura may kindly help Mahārāja in his service and preaching mission, then we will feel joy within our heart. Let there be all glories to Pujyapad Mahārāja, all glories to Srila Swamiji Mahārāja, all glories to the assembled devotees. Vāñchā-kalpa-tarubhyaś ca kṛpā-sindhubhya eva ca.)

(Todays this meeting is very beautiful. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahāprabhu, all the Vaisnavas assembled here at Sridham Mayapur will discuss about the glories of the Lord and about the preaching mission of His holy nama—this is a matter of great fortune. Many vaisnavas have mercifully said many things about my insignificant personality, but everywhere I always think that I am the most unqualified person. The little bit of service that is being done is happening by the mercy of Srila Prabhupāda Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami's influence. I don't have any personal credit for this. It is not that I am making up these words for speaking, it's not like that.)

Amar jivanete, tar sangete yebhabete samparka hoyeche onek katha holo, dui-ekta sei samasta katha bola darkar. 1922 sale, takhon ami Dr. Bose er laboratory te manager chilam. Eibhabete amake jor kore Bhakti Siddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Pader kache niye felle. (In my life the way I have got into a relationship with him, although we used to have alot of talks, but few of the words amongst those discussions needs to be told. In the year 1922, when I was working as a manager in Dr. Bose's laboratory, one of my friend forcefully took me to Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami. Because we got some educational qualification, we used to think that all these saintly people are only . . . many saints used to visit our home . . . I used to see, they were taking Prasadam etc., not much to be impressed about, so I thought all these saints were fake. So my friend told me that one very exalted saint has come, let's go to meet him. I told him that I have seen many saints like this. I was not ready to visit and he was also not ready to give up. Under such a scenario he forcibly took me to Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvamipada's place.)

Tini dekhba matrai bolche, "apnader moto lekha-para jana chele, sob Chaitanyar katha, Chaitanya Mahaprabhur katha sob bideshe procar karo". Ta ami takhon Gandhir bhakta. Ami bollam "masai apnader, ei Chaitanyar katha ke shunbe paradhin jat, eisob katha kichu noy, ekhon svadhinatar jonye cesta korte hobe". (Just after seeing us he said, "Educated boys like you, you should preach the message of Caitanya Mahāprabhu in the foreign countries." At that time I was a follower of Gandhi. I replied that, "Sir, who is going to listen to your message of Caitanya, our nation is not independent, there is no use of such talks now. First we should try for freedom." Then he made me understand very well that all these dependence and independence are temporary situations, the real word's are those. I accepted defeat to his logical arguments.)

Monta khubi . . . thik boleche. Ar tarpar ektu jal-tal kheye amra yakhan cole yacchi, takhon amar sei bandhu rastay jijnesh korle ye, khubi antaranga bandhu. "Tor ki mat ei sadhu samparke? Tarporete ami Kolkatar Boser laboratory manager seat resign diye, tader agency niye ami Allahabade. (My mind agreed that he had said the right thing. We drank water there and after a while when we were leaving, my friend, a very close friend he was, asked me, what is your opinion on this saint?" I said that now the mission of Caitanya Mahāprabhu is in such hands that His message will surely be spread all over the world. That was 1922. Later I resigned as a manager from Dr. Bose's laboratory and started one of their agencies at Allahabad.)

Sei Allahabadete byabsar sange, sange khali mone hoto ye, besh sadhur sange dekha hoyeche. Besh bhalo sadhur sange dekha hoyeche. Besh bhalo lok. Eita khali smaran hoto. (While conducting business in Allahabad, I always used to think that I had met with such a good saint. I met with a wonderful saint, such a nice person he was. This used to come to my mind always. Later, after many days, in the year 1928, during the period of Kumbha Mela when people from our Gaudiya math visited there to establish a temple.)

Sekhane amader ei brddha tirtha Maharaj chilen, ar amader Gosvami Maharaj Atindiya Bandapadhay takhon nam chilo, tini ar oi Dhirkrsna Brahmacari ityadi sob purana lok sob chilen. Hathat sakole mile amar dokane ese hajir holo. Take . . . taderke keu bole diyeche ye, oi Abhay babur dokanete yan, uni besh dharmik lok, uni apnader bhiksha-siksha bhalo debe. (At that time, this very aged Tirtha Mahārāja was there and our Gosvami Mahārāja then he was known as Atindiya Bandopadhaya, he and DhirKṛṣṇā brahmacari etc., all well acquainted people were there. Suddenly all of them came together to visit my shop. Someone had intimated to them that you can go to Abhay babu's shop, he is a religious person, he will give you a good donation. Then I saw Tirtha Mahārāja . . . as I was always thinking about my meeting with those saints . . . I became very pleased by seeing the very aged Tirtha Mahārāja. Oh here is this saint who has come again.)

Sei ath bacor pare, 1922 sale sei Prabhupader sange dekha, tarparete abar se 28 salete, chaybatchar parete, khub ananda holo. To tini Tirtha Maharaj bollen apnar nam shune esechi, amader sob sahaya korun, ekhane amra branch khulbo. To amar khub ananda. Ye "hya bolun ki sahajya korbo?". Six years later I became joyful. Tirtha Mahārāja said that we came here after knowing about you, we will open a branch here, kindly help us. My joy was boundless. Yes, kindly tell what type of help I can do. Helped as per my capacity. I managed to arrange some subscriptions from my friends and known people. That was the second time. After that gradually, by the will of Prabhupāda my business got completely ruined. That was in the year of 1930.)

Takhon ei amader upastiti Jajabar Maharaj chilen ar Atulananda era cadanite asten. Tara bollen ye "apni to ekhon sandhebela free thaken, amader mathe asen na keno?". Ta ami bohablam, bhalo katha din-bharto ekhonto kaj karma beshi nei to mathe yetam. Takhan ei Allahabadete oi . . . ekta choto bari niye math khola hoyechilo, oi sandhe bela yetam. Eibarete eder sange ghanista samparka holo, hoye tarpore lat saheb elen amader Allahabader mathe vitti sthapan korte, sei samayte Prabhupader sange onek katha hoto. Takhon amar diksha hoyni. Oi gharete paicari korten, amio sange sange paicari kortam. (Then Jajabar Mahārāja, who is also present now, and Atulananda, they used to come to collect subscriptions. They said that now you remain free in the evening time, why don't you come to our math. I thought this is a good idea, now not much work is there, so I used to visit the math. They had taken a small house in Allahabad and opened a math, I used to go in the evening. In this way a close relationship developed with them. After that Governor General came to lay the foundation stone of Allahabad math. During that time we used to have a lot of talks with Prabhupāda. I was not yet initiated. He used to stroll in the room, I also did walk with him.)

Ar tader onek sob purba ashramer kutumba chilo Allahabade. Mittir-ra chilo tader katha chilo tader katha jijnesh korche, ami sob boltem. Erombhabe edik, odiker katha. Ar Prabhupad kalke Mathuray cole yacchen. Yodi apnara iccha koren tar katha shunte paren. Karan tini kal sakale cole yaben. (He had many relatives in Allahabad at the time of earlier ashrama. The Mittir families were there, he asked about them and I used to tell him, like this, talks from here and there. Gradually our relationship became close. Then there was circumambulation in Vrindavan. I thought let me go and see what circumambulation will they do there. In Koshi, when Prabhupāda will be lecturing, then our Vinod Da (brother Vinod), Keshab Mahārāja, he told everyone that we will be visiting Seshashayee Narayan for darshan, those who are interested to go please get ready. And Prabhupāda will be leaving for Mathura tomorrow, if you wish you may hear him because he will be leaving tomorrow morning.)

Ta ami sei natunlok, ami bollum ye, o Seshashayee Narayan korte yeye ki hobe? ei Prabhupader katha shona yak. To seta tini laksha korechilen, sei pratham. Purbe dekha hoyeche, tarpore r paricay hoyni. Tarporete Allahbadete ta sob amra bose achi, amader Ganesh babu chilen, tini amar khub paricay koriye diten, khub . . . takhan ei Prabhupad ei kathata bollen ye, "ami oke laksha korechi uni katha gulo shonen bhalo, paliye yan na"', ei kathata bolechilen. Tarporete tini bollen, hya oke ami diksha debo. Tarpor amar diksha holo. Tarporete amader Bumbaier math sthapan holo 1934 ba 35 salete. Se samayte ei Gosvami Maharaj takhan grhastha. Sakale sob party holo. Negi Maharaj ekta party korlen, ar Gosvami Maharaj ekta party korlen. (I was a newcomer, I thought that what will be the use of visiting Seshashayee Narayan for darshan, better hear the words of Prabhupāda. He noted that. That was the first time . . . have seen each other, but not got formally introduced. Once in Allahabad we all were sitting together, our Ganesh babu was there, he introduced me to him by saying that he is very . . . then Prabhupāda said that, I have noticed him, he likes to hear, doesn't go away. He said these words. Thereafter he said that yes I will initiate him. Then I got an initiation. After that in 1934 or 35 our Mumbai math was established. At that time this Gosvami Mahārāja was in the grhastha ashram. Then everybody made their own party. Negi Mahārāja made one party and Gosvami Mahārāja made another.)

To uni amake bollen ye, apnar sathe yana shuna lok ye samasta ache tar kache amake ektu niye calo. Hya chalo. Ta amar sob medical business daktar ar oshudher dokane sob. Eketo math command kora ucit. ini baire thaken keno? (So Gosvami Mahārāja asked me to take him to all the people who were known to me. I said "Let's go." Mine was a medical business, the Doctors and the medicine shops. In those days the market condition—tentatively one could sell about 500 rupees daily. By seeing this Gosvami Mahārāja then he was Aprakrita prabhu, he was glorifying me to Prabhupāda, in such a short period of his stay in Bombay he has got so much contact here and helped us to get so much donations in one day, he should be made math commander, why he stays outside.)

Ami baire thaktam. Amar office chilo Bombete. Amar duti chele niye ami thaktam. Tarporto uni khub Gosvami Maharajer barato khub amake bariye dilen ekbare te. Ini mathe thakun, ini math command hon. Bolten ye apnader math theke ektu dure thakai bhalo. (At that time I was staying outside. My office was there in Bombay, I was staying with two of my boys. Gosvami Mahārāja has lifted me up so high in one go. Let him stay at the math and be the math commander. Prabhupāda used to give value to the words of Gosvami Mahārāja. I remember, at that time he told one thing and others who were present there at that time, probably Sridhara Mahārāja was there and our Paramhamsa Mahārāja was also there. Prabhupāda said that it is better for you people to stay a bit away from the math.)

Ar yakhon kaj korte hobe, uni nije korben, ei kathata tini bolechilen. Ta ami takhon bujhte parini ye, ekathata keno bollen, amar ki kaj korbo ami kichu janina. Tarporete 1936 te Prabhupad yakhan asusta hoye Puri te chilen, ami take ek khana cithi likhechilam ye, prabhu apnar sange sange yara thake, tarato onek seva kore, amra kakhano ektu adhtu kichu paisa kari ditam, kintu bastabik seva to kichu korte parini. (And when some job needs to be done, that he will do by himself. He said these words. I couldn't realize then. that is why he is saying this. What type of work will I do, I have no idea of anything. Later in 1936 when Prabhupāda was sick and staying at Puri, I wrote him a letter that, "Prabhu those who are staying with you, they render so much service." At times we used to help by giving some money, but actual service we could not render.)

Eta tar aprakat hobar . . . tini 29 se December aprakat hoyechilen ar ei cithi khanar tarikh chilo Teroi December arthat thik 15 din age. Tini bollen ye, cithi likhe ye, apni engraji bhasay procar korben, ete apnar mangal hobe, jagater mangal hobe. Tarpor tini aprakat hoye gelen. Amader Tirtha Maharaj chilen, buro Tirtha Maharaj tini amake khub bhalobasten. Amader Basudev Prabhuo khub bhalobasten. Ta ami tader sange paramarsa korlam Prabhupad ei sob katha boleche. Tini to chole gelen ki korbo? (Then he, this was before his disappearance, 29th December was his disappearance day, and this letter was dated on 13th December, meaning just 15 days ago. He said in his letter that you will preach in the English language. That will be beneficial for you and beneficial for the whole world. Then he disappeared. Our Tirtha Mahārāja was there, the aged Tirtha Mahārāja, he loved me a lot. Our Basudev prabhu also loved me. So I discussed with them that Prabhupāda had said like this but as he is no longer here, what should I do now.)

Takhon bollen apni engrejite likhun. Khub jor diye bolchen. Basudev Prabhu tinio oi katha bollen. Ta ami bollam amito kichu likhte-tikhte janina, abasya age likhtam Harmoniste. Likhtum yahok kichu. Na apni iji-biji likhben. Ar Nishith Babu ke deke bollen, uni ya likhben apni chapben. Eiram onek purono katha ache. Kintu tarporete ami Back to Godhead oi 1944 salete arambha kori. Sei tar president savapati hoyechilen amader Gosvami Maharaj. Eiram bhabe kramasha, kramasha, kramasha tarpore amito sangsar theke chere dilam. Diye vanaprastha niye oi Back to Godhead chalatum, Delhi te yeye kono rakome. (He said you write in English. He said this with much stress. Basudev prabhu also said the same thing. I said I don't know how to make this writing, although earlier I used to write for the Harmonist. Some casual writing. He said that you write scrap. And then he called up Nishith babu and told him that whatever he writes please publish it. All these incident's are of those old days. After that I started Back to Godhead in 1944. Gosvami Mahārāja became the president of that publication. In this way, gradually step by step, later I left my family. And after taking vanaprastha I used to run the Back to Godhead somehow or other by visiting Delhi.)

Tarpor amar kono bandhu bolle ye, Back to Godhead na likhe yodi boi likhen apni, taholeto segulo thakbe, eto kagaj chire debe. Takhan ami boi likhte arambha kori Bhagavat. Takhon tin khana boi amar holo, takhon oi prerana elo ye, ei bare yao. Ami mone korlam ye Prabhu prathameo bolechilen, madhya o bolechilen abar shesh kaleo ei kathao bolechilen. Ar tar baroi iccha chilo ye bideshe te Chaitanya Mahaprabhur katha procar hok. (Then one of my friends told me that instead of writing Back to Godhead if you write some books, then those books will remain, else these pieces of paper will be torn apart. Then I began to write books, Bhagavat. When three volumes of the book were ready, then inspiration came to me that now you should go. Then I remembered that Prabhu told me this at the very beginning, again told me in the middle period and finally at the very end. Moreover, he had a very intense desire that the message of Caitanya Mahāprabhu be preached in the foreign countries.)

Kintu yeram bhabe dekhchi ar Damodar Maharaj ye kathata bollen, ta amar konodin ekhane math korbar ba ekhanete jayga nebar icchachilona. Ami mone kortam ye amader gurubhaider sob jayga ache, yodi darkar hoy yabo tader barite dui-ekdin theke chole asbo. Ami abar ekta math, mandir . . . oke Damodar Maharajke likheo chilam erom kore. (As none of our God brothers could do anything about this. Those who had gone there, they also again returned and got stuck here, couldn't do anything there. Let me try once at this final age. Like this I went. I didn't go with any qualifications. But the way I look at it, as Damodar Mahārāja has said, I didn't have any plan to make any math or take any land here. My thought was that already there are places for my Godbrothers, if the need arises, I will simply come for a visit and stay for a couple of days at their home and then return. I will not make another math, temple, I also had written this to Damodar Mahārāja.)

Uni yakhan amake jid korchen, ami bollam: "na, amar icche nei". Tarporete yekono prokare hok, Krsner icchay ei amar shisyake du bachar age ami taka pathiye diyechi. "Accha jayga keno, Damodar Maharaj bolchen". Kintu badha hoyeche. Circumstance emon circumstances holo seta ar ami bolte caina. Amar takhan jid holo ye, yata taka lage ei jaygata keno. (When he was insisting, I said: "No, I don't want". After that, by whatever ways it may be, by the will of Krsna, I had sent money two years back to my disciple "Okay you can purchase the land. Damodar Mahārāja is urging." But there were many obstacles. The circumstances became as such, I don't want to say anything about that. Then I took it as a challenge and said that whatever amount of money it may take, you purchase this land.)

Ei gata batcharete kena hoyeche. Apnara sob krpa kore esechen, ashirvad korchen. Yeman eikhanete Mahaprabhur seva, ei chelera sob esheche, era bhalo kore korte pare. Amake ashirvad korben, eder ashirvad korben. Amar nijer kono yajnata nai. Eta yena Prabhupāda Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, tini jor kore galay dhore eisob amake karacche, echara ar kono katha na. Dandavat. (Finally this was purchased last year. You all have come by showing your compassion, bestowing blessings. So that these boys who have come here may perform the service of Mahāprabhu very well. Please bless me and bless them too. I myself don't have any qualifications. As if all this is being done by Prabhupāda Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, he is forcibly holding my neck and making me doing these things. There is nothing more to say than this. Obeisances.)

Devotee: All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda.
