From Vanisource

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

720507IN-HONOLULU - May 07, 1972 - 05:24 Minutes

Prabhupāda: (chants word-for-word, devotees repeat in response) etāṁ . . . (indistinct conversation) (Siddha-svarūpānanda repeats)

etāṁ, sāsthāya, parātma, niṣṭhām, adhyāsitāṁ . . . (indistinct) . . . adhyāsitāṁ?

Siddha-svarūpānanda: adhyāsitāṁ

adhyāsitāṁ, pūrva, tamair, mahadbhiḥ, ahaṁ, tariṣyāmi, duranta, pāraṁ, tamo, mukundāṅghri, niṣevayaiva. etāṁ, samāsthāya, parātma, niṣṭhām, adhyāsitāṁ, pūrva,
tamair, mahadbhiḥ; ahaṁ, tariṣyāmi, duranta, pāraṁ, tamo, mukundāṅghri, niṣevayaiva. etāṁ, samāsthāya, parātma, niṣṭhām, adhyāsitāṁ, pūrva, tamair, mahadbhiḥ, ahaṁ,
tari, ṣyāmi, duranta, pāraṁ, tamo, mukundāṅghri, niṣevayaiva.

Now read this . . . (indistinct)

Siddha-svarūpānanda etāṁ –this;
samāsthāya –taking shelter of;
par rā . . .

Prabhupāda: parātma–means the accepting this sannyāsa order,

(break) . . . master accepting this order.

Siddha-svarūpānanda: parātma–the Supreme Personality of Godhead; niṣṭhām–means firm conviction.

Prabhupāda: Firm conviction in the Supreme Personality of Godhead as he instructs: sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja ([[BG (1972) 18.66|BG 18.66).

So after taking sannyāsa there is no other business than to take shelter of Kṛṣṇa's lotus feet. Go on. ziddha-svarūpānanda adhyāsitāṁ–means worship by pūrva tamair–means by previous ācāryas.

Prabhupāda: So it is not a new thing most of the ācāryas they accepted. Just like in the beginning all the four ācāryas namely Rāmānujācārya, Madhvācārya, Nimbārka, Viṣṇu Svāmī, they accepted sannyāsa and in that line Caitanya Mahāprabhu He accepted sannyāsa. Then further down to my Guru Mahārāja he accepted sannyāsa, I have accepted sannyāsa, so pūrvatamair mahadbhiḥ (SB 11.23.57).

(I shall cross over the insurmountable ocean of nescience by being firmly fixed in the service of the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa. This was approved by the previous ācāryas, who were fixed in firm devotion to the Lord, Paramātmā, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.)

As previous ācāryas accepted, so I am accepting also. Mahat eh?, parātma-niṣṭhām. Full faith for developing full faith in the Supreme Personality of Godhead . . . (indistinct) . . . go on.

Siddha-svarūpānanda: mahadbhiḥ–means great . . .

Prabhupāda: mahadbhiḥ, mahadbhiḥ means great ācāryas, previous guru's ācāryas, yes?

Siddha-svarūpānanda: ahaṁ–myself; tariṣyāmi–means, shall crossover.

Prabhupāda: That's all, this material existence is very difficult to crossover but by accepting this sannyāsa order, by preaching Kṛṣṇa consciousness I shall also crossover the ocean of nescience.

Siddha-svarūpānanda: durat.

Prabhupāda: duranta.

Siddha-svarūpānanda: duranta-pāraṁ–insurmountable;

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Siddha-svarūpānanda: tamo–the darkness of ignorance; mukundāṅghri–the lotus feet of Mukunda who gives all liberations.

Prabhupāda: Mukunda, muk means liberation and one who gives liberation as, transcendental bliss he is called Mukunda–Kṛṣṇa. Go on.

Siddha-svarūpānanda: niṣe va yaiva.

Prabhupāda: niṣevayaiva.

Siddha-svarūpānanda: niṣevayaiva.

Prabhupāda: Simply by rendering service unto Him. Go on.

Prabhupāda: (indistinct) . . . so do you know the regulative principles? What is that?

Harivallabha: No intoxication, no illicit sex life, no gambling, no meat eating.

Prabhupāda: Yes, your name is Harivallabha dāsa. How many rounds will you chant?

Harivallabha: Only 16.

Prabhupāda: So do you follow all the rules and regulations? What is that?

Jīvan-Kṛṣṇa: No meat fish or eggs, no intoxicants, no illicit sex and no gambling.

Prabhupāda: Your name is Jīvan-Kṛṣṇa dāsa, it means one who has made his life Kṛṣṇa. How many rounds will you chant?

Jīvan-Kṛṣṇa: Only 16.

Devotees: (laugh)

Prabhupāda: So chant Hare Krishna.

Devotees: (chant Hare Kṛṣṇa) (end)
