770208 - Letter to Ramesvara from Unknown

February 8, 1977

From: Unknown

Dear Rameswara Maharaj,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I have just received a letter from Subhananda. His report of the extensive work he is doing, especially in meeting with psychologists and writing against deprogramming is impressive. He is an undoubted “workhorse” of a writer for all our immediate needs. He writes that he is now emptied out, contaminated etc. from his recent work, and wants very much to go to Mayapur festival but has no money and doubts you will be able to send. That is entirely your business not mine, but on his behalf I would at least suggest that he be given some priority, with a binding promise to make up the money on weekend sankirtan (which he is capable of).

We have arrived “back to home”, Mayapur, and today observed the Appearance Day of Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati with a wonderful ceremony, and a notable speech by Srila Prabhupada which we duly recorded. Srila Prabhupada is referring more and more items to the upcoming GBC meeting. I heard that some U.S. GBC were planning to attend the festival as little as three days for the GBC meeting only, due to deprogramming threats in the U.S. for this time. Srila Prabhupada heard of this (Swarupa Damodar reported it was the case with Rupanuga, and I heard an intimation of this from Kirtanananda Maharaj) and His Divine Grace approved of the principle if there is really a threat. But I am concerned that everyone come at least at the right time, when Srila Prabhupada is here. His Divine Grace is going to Manipur on or about March 8th, for a one week program which he considers very important. That means our GBC meeting will have to be finished before that.
