770607 - Letter to Surabhi Swami from Tamal Krsna

7 June, 1977

My dear Surabhi Swami,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your telegram. We have just sent a letter to Bank of America advising to transfer Rs. 48,000 to State Bank of Hyderbad. As soon as you receive the next transfer of $100,000, please inform us by telegram and when we shall advise the bank to make the necessary transfers. If there is one thing you can do in this lifetime let it be to complete the Bombay temple on schedule. That will give Srila Prabhupada life. Regarding the Bhubaneswar temple, Srila Prabhupad said that it should be done according to the Vrndavan style with Orrisian domes.

As Bali Mardan is now involved with the construction, I think it will be preferable to have him also sign on all requests for money.

Srila Prabhupad has looked at the drawings for the proposed center in Panihati and enjoyed seeing them very much. Regarding the Rs. one lac needed for the soil tests in Mayapur, I cannot ask Srila Prabhupad at this time for the money because it is too much of a management headache. Rather this matter should be discussed with Jayapataka Swami and others. Any request for money for the Mayapur temple will have to be signed by a number of persons on that committee, not coming simply in an informal letter as you have just written. So if you are serious to begin soil tests, then your request for money should come in a formal letter signed by a few of the committee members. Regarding your visiting Europe and the U.S., the most important business at this time is the completion of the Bombay temple. If you can immediately arrange for a visa in Europe then my feeling is that you should immediately return and personally oversee the construction in Bombay. There is nothing more important than this at this time. All other projects, even Mayapur, are in the future, but this Bombay project is very much involved with Srila Prabhupad's health. If it is completed on time I know that he will gain life from this, so please consider wisely before you take a month or more off to talk with Baradvaja and others about Mayapur.

Hoping this meets you well.

Your servant,
Tamal Krsna Gosvami
Secretary to Srila Prabhupad
