770707 - Letter to Harikesa from Tamal Krsna

Vrndavana,

July 7, 1977

From: Tamal Krishna

Frankfurt

My dear Harikesa Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet. His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada has received your letter dated the 28th June, 1977 and instructed me to answer it. Your letter was super encouraging to His Divine Grace. Prabhupada has been receiving directly reports from Ghanasyama Prabhu about his preaching in Yugoslavia. and these have given him full ecstasy. He has had me read each of them to no less than ten or eleven or the biggest men who came to visit Him. Prabhupada relishes the reports each and every time. Prabhupada was especially pleased to learn of the possibility of a temple in Russia. He said, “Take this opportunity immediately. It will be a great triumph if we open a temple there. If you work sincerely it will come definitely. The Russian people are not all atheists. They are very good people. I have studied them. Simply the Government.”

Srila Prabhupada also received the Arabic Isopanisad, two copies, which needless to say made him very enthused. Prabhupada very much appreciated the very humble attitude of Ravanari Prabhu and sent him His full blessings. Regarding the people of Beirut, Srila Prabhupada had this to say: “I have heard that they are good men. They will like our Arabic Isopanisad definitely and kirtan also.”

I am enclosing a copy of Srila Prabhupada’s Letter to: Ghanasyama Prabhu in reply to his last report, for your pleasure.

Regarding your question, Does the GBC accept the reactions of devotees in his zone, Srila Prabhupada answered, “No. Everyone is responsible for his own karma.” At the end of your letter, you pray that Srila Prabhupada will see fit to bestow His mercy upon you. His Divine Grace said with a broad smile and [His eyes closed, “You are doing very nicely. All My blessings are upon you.”

Srila Prabhupada is now in the middle of translating the 9th Chapter of the Tenth Canto. His health is maintaining, not getting any worse but not significantly better. But His translation work is going on unimpeded. Quite often now He translates in the afternoon between the hours of four and six, as well as in the night-time. During the morning between 9:30 and 10 He goes to the temple for darshan of Krishna and Balarama. He sits underneath the tamala tree in His chair and all of the devotees sing Hare Krishna mantra. We are working very diligently on the Fifth Canto, making elaborate drawings of the universe according to the descriptions given. Hoping this meets you well.

Your servant,
