770721 - Letter to Bajaji written from Vrndavana

His Divine Grace

21st July 77

Krsna Balaram Mandir
Bhaktivedanta Swami Marg,
Vrndavana, Mathura, U.P.

My dear Bajajji,

Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated July 16th, 1977, regarding the organizing of a Conference at Vrndavana. I think you know already that I have not been keeping good health. At the present moment practically I do not go out of my quarters. Even when going to the toilet, two men must assist me. Under the circumstances to sit in deliberation would be very difficult for me.

Our mission is on the basis of Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s instructions. Caitanya Mahaprabhu wanted to preach Bhagavad-gita As It Is all over the world: yanra dekhe tare kaha krsna upadesa. We are presenting the Bhagavad-gita As It Is all over the world, and people are accepting it. So long we do not do this, the Bhagavad-gita will remain in darkness. Such exalted knowledge should not be distorted nor remain unknown to the people of the world. But as far as I have experienced, the Gita Pratisthan does not want to present the Bhagavad-gita As It Is. Unfortunately I have experienced that all the people who assemble do not like to take my guidance. If they do not take my guidance then what is the use of asking me to attend?

In Vrndavana we are constructing a Bhaktivedanta Institute Hall. When it is finished, if you hold meetings here, we can give you for some days, the use of this hall free of charge. So far the Guest House is concerned, it is always filled up. So if we do not charge it will be a huge financial loss. We can spare the use of the Guest House simply for the room charges, and we can provide a kitchen where you can arrange for your own cooking. Or if you prefer, our Restaurant is also there.

Hoping this meets you well.

Your ever well-wisher,

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami
