771015 - Letter to Vidyananda from Tamal Krsna

Vrndavana,

October 15, 1977

From: Tamal Krishna

Harrisburg, PA

My dear Vidyananda Prabhu,

Please accept my obeisances. I have been instructed by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada to thank you for your letter dated October 3rd, 1977.

Srila Prabhupada is lying very ill in His bed and is being chanted to 24 hours a day by His most senior disciples from all over the world who have come here to Vrndavana to be with Him. Yesterday we observed a miraculous feat. As Srila Prabhupada was hearing the description of the very inauspicious arrangement and alignment of the planets in the next few months which were all inauspicious, He heard the recommendation that there should be the performance of maha-japa. Srila Prabhupada said this maha-japa will be kirtan and constant hearing of the Bhagavatam. He said that while the Bhagavatam is being recited, someone may sit nearby and take note. Then Srila Prabhupada asked Pradyumna Prabhu, His sanskrit scholar, to begin reading the Bhagavatam from where He had left off the translation. As Pradyumna Prabhu began to read the verses, Srila Prabhupada began to give commentaries. Thus in a very surprising way, Srila Prabhupada began once again to translate the Bhagavatam. Therefore now we are once again hopeful that His Divine Grace may stay with us and continue to lead this Krishna consciousness movement.

Please go on praying very sincerely and serving Srila Prabhupada in this program of distributing His books. You are a sincere Vaisnava so Krishna will surely fulfill your prayers that His Divine Grace may live for many more years and fulfill His wonderful mission of Krishna consciousness.

Hoping this meets you in the best of health and Krishna consciousness.

Your servant,

Tamal Krishna Gosvami
