771030 - Letter to Jagadish Prasad Garg from Tamal Krsna

30th October, 1977
From: Tamal Krishna
Sri Jagadish Prasad Garg,
Chowk Bazaar,
Mathura

Dear Sri Gargji,

Please accept my greetings and blessings of Lord Krsna.I wish to thank you once again for the time which you spared last evening at Bhagatji’s house to discuss some of our Society’s affairs. It was indeed a great pleasure to speak with you and I was very much impressed with the guidance and advice you gave to us. I have spoken with His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada about the matters which we were discussing and beg to submit the following information which should enable you to complete the documents.

Regarding the amendment to the will concerning the allotment of pension to the former family members of Srila Prabhupada, I discussed this with His Divine Grace. The letter dated July 3rd, 1977 and signed by myself giving the scheme may be kept as it is. The Declaration of Will, paragraph 8, may also stay as it is. What needs to be added to the Will is to make mention of this scheme as given in the letter of 3rd July with the following important additional points. Namely, (1) That the former wife’s pension of Rs.1,000/- may be used for maintenance. (2) That of the Rs. 1000/- which is to be given to each of the two sons and two daughters per month, the Rs.250/- may be used for maintenance.(3) The balance Rs.750/- will be put aside each month in a Fixed Deposit for seven years period in the individual names of the two sons and two daughters (just as is mentioned in the scheme) and at the end of seven years, each month the matured Fixed Deposit will be paid to the individual sons and daughters. However these matured monthly Fixed Deposits must be invested in Government bonds, Fixed Deposits, or any other Government scheme. It may not be used for maintenance itself, but the earnings after it is placed in Fixed Deposits may then be used for maintenance. If in the event that any of these monthly Fixed Deposits are used in any way other than placing them in a Fixed Deposit scheme or some other Government scheme, then any further allowance of Rs.1000/- per month will be stopped to that particular individual family member and instead the money will be given to the Bhaktivedanta Swami Charity Trust. The family member concerned in this way may get the balance of the Fixed Deposits as they mature each month but will no longer be given again the Rs.1000/- per month allowance.

In this way the letter written to the Indian Overseas Bank may also be amended to include this provision, that ISKCON reserves the right to notify them to cancel the Rs.1000/- interest given to a particular family member based upon the amendment to the Will.

Another point which should be amended in the Will is the addition of Jayapataka Swami as one of the executors of the Will, as well as the point that the executor may act together or individually to fulfill the points of the Will.

In regard to the Bhaktivedanta Swami Charity Trust, the corpus will be fixed as Rs. 1,00,000/-.

I hope that the above information is clear and understandable by your good self. If there is anything which requires further clarification, please do not hesitate to telephone me at Vrndavana 178.Again I wish to thank you very much for your kind help in these affairs and look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours most faithfully,

Tamal Krsna Gosvami
Secretary to His Divine Grace
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
