Dear Mr. Nakra,

Please accept the blessings of Lord Krsna. The other day I had a conversation with Mr. Duggal, the manager of the Vrndavana branch. It was in regard to the fact that we are not being credited interest on our Savings Accounts for balances exceeding Rs. 2 lakhs. This fact has very much disturbed us. All of the other banks with which we do business in India give us interest on our balances no matter how high the balances are. This encourages us to keep our money with the banks. Sometimes we have kept balances in excess of 10 lakhs in savings accounts and in every case we have been credited interest. Just to sight an example, in April of this year we transferred Rs. 4 lakhs to our savings account in the name of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami. Had we known that your Vrndavana branch was unwilling to give interest for this amount, we would never have transferred this amount into the bank. Ours is a charitable institution, meant for the public welfare, and our funds are contributed by the public. For this reason, and for the fact that other banks are giving us interest on our savings accounts even when the balance exceeds Rs. 2 lakhs, we request that you please intercede on our behalf and instruct the local branch to credit us the interest.

I may also make note here that interest for the period of December 1976 through May 1977 has still not been credited to any of our savings accounts for the balances under Rs. 2 lakhs either.

Again I would like to repeat my invitation extended to you in my previous letter dated 26th October, to kindly arrange to come and visit here again in the immediate future so that we can establish a smooth relationship between ourselves and the local branch. I thank you very much for your kind help and attention which you are showing to us and assure you that it will not be in vain.

Yours faithfully,

Tamal Krsna Gosvami
