His Divine Grace
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

771031R1-VRNDAVAN - October 31, 1977 - 86:16 Minutes

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: . . . may request him that "Since you feel that it is very important that Prabhupāda get a little more strength, you kindly wait about two more days, and let us go like that." In other words, we're not overly eager to leave tomorrow. If the kavirāja were willing to stay here for ten days more, we'd be very happy, and then after ten days we'd go with him.

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: So let us try and in some way induce him to extend, as far as he can, and then we'll go on whatever day he says he must go on.

Bhakti-caru: Actually he agreed to stay about three, four more days.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Huh. If he agrees to stay a couple more days, we should take advantage of that to give you more time to gain strength. Not that we're overly eager to rush out of here. Our point is that we want to go where he is, that we want you to remain under his treatment. That is our point. If he was willing to stay . . .

Prabhupāda: No, no, if after all he wants to go, why not leave earlier?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Because the whole idea of going is that the medicine is supposed to be having effect. So the longer we have for the medicine to take effect, the stronger you should become. And the stronger you become, the easier will be the journey. It would only be a question of one or two days extra, because in any case he'll want to leave after a few days. (break)

Prabhupāda: . . . some rest, back side, I can sit down.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: With some rest?

Bhavānanda: Something to rest against on his back. Then he can sit.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yes, and in any case we were going to purchase three seats for you, for Your Divine Grace, so that you can lay down conveniently in the plane also. No harm in taking . . . because one thing you have to remember: the entire journey will take ten hours, so you should conserve your strength by laying down as far as possible. Here you can sit up for two hours because the bed is stationary, and then you can always be resting. But this will be a ten-hour journey. So we should try to take every possible means to allow you to be comfortable the whole way and to relax as much as possible.

Prabhupāda: Give me some rest, back side.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Pillows. There's a couple in that room, also in the palanquin.

Prabhupāda: Hmm?

Bhavānanda: Just setting it up, Śrīla Prabhupāda. (aside) We just have to move your bag. (break)

Bhakti-caru: Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Prabhupāda: . . . (indistinct)

Bhakti-caru: (to Tamāla Kṛṣṇa) Prabhupāda is asking if you . . . (indistinct)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: So Śrīla Prabhupāda seems to be feeling a little bit of benefit already from the treatment. (Bhakti-caru translates to kavirāja) So he's . . . he feels a little confident under your care. So he's feeling that whenever you like to go to Calcutta, as you have other important business there, that you take him with you and we'll all come.

Bhakti-caru: Prabhupāda Ji ne bola hai jab aapko Kalkatta me bahut kaam para hua hai, to aap bhi Prabhupāda ko sath leke Kalkatta chaliye. (Śrīla Prabhupāda is telling that since you have many other activities to be done at Calcutta, so better you take Śrīla Prabhupāda with you in Calcutta.)

Kavirāja: Keya Maharaj. (So Mahārāja.)

Prabhupāda: Hmm. (Yes.)

Kavirāja: Keya bolte hai aap. (What do you say about this.)

Prabhupāda: Mai to raji hu. (I agree to their proposal.)

Kavirāja: Aap raji hai. Hum dus pandro roj baad bhi aap ko le jane me raji hai. (Okay you agree. I am ready to take you after ten fifteen days.)

Prabhupāda: Hmm.

Kavirāja: Thoda sa chalne firne lag jayega. Sujan kam ho jayega. (When you will be able to walk a little. The swelling will be reduced a bit.)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: The thing is that Prabhupāda does not—neither we feel confident at all—to have Prabhupāda treated by anyone else even in the interim period. (Bhakti-caru translates) The problem is that if some assistant is here, if in case there's some problem develops, then the assistant has to become the one who gives a diagnosis, and we don't trust any assistant. (Bhakti-caru translates)

Bhakti-caru: He's saying that the main disease is being taken care of, but there might be some secondary ailments like a cough or like passing stool. Someone has to take care of these sort of things, the secondary effects. But the main thing he is giving the medicine, and that he's going to give.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: But the fact is that no matter how expert one may be, sometimes the body reacts in a certain way. Sometimes the body may react in a way which was not foreseen. And then we are at the mercy of this assistant. And that we do not want. This assistant is . . . we are not very anxious about it. (Bhakti-caru translates, kavirāja answers) No person of any great position would ever place themselves under an assistant like that. (Bhakti-caru translates) Never. If Morarji Desai was to be treated, he would never allow that assistant to touch him. (Bhakti-caru translates) We prefer to take the risk . . . (kavirāja interrupts) You can explain this point. We prefer to take the risk of traveling than the risk of being treated by that assistant. (Bhakti-caru translates) Because if you are personally present, there's less risk. (Prabhupāda comments, Bhakti-caru translates and explains travel plans) Here's what it will entail. From here we will go in the car, a very good, big Western car with a mattress in the back seat, and Prabhupāda will be laying down. You can explain that. (Bhakti-caru translates) We'll drive slowly. Then we'll have a wheelchair at the airport. The car will go right up to the plane and the wheelchair . . . we'll carry Prabhupāda right into a seat, and he can lay down in the three seats. Then again we'll take him off the plane. Immediately he'll lay down in the car and go to Māyāpur. (Bhakti-caru translates) (Svarūpa Dāmodara tells Tamāla Kṛṣṇa they are talking about the climate) There there's open air. Here we have to keep everything closed. Cold draft is coming here. And also there all the vegetables are grown fresh on our land. Plus change of place is also nice for improved health. Prabhupāda is accustomed every three days to go to another country or another city. (Bhakti-caru translates, kavirāja answers and says something to Prabhupāda) We will have about ten of us traveling. There will be at least ten of us traveling, so we will give him all . . . (Bhakti-caru translates) (Svarūpa Dāmodara tells Tamāla Kṛṣṇa that the kavirāja said Prabhupāda cannot sit)

Bhakti-caru: He said Prabhupāda cannot sit. He'll give a medicine for heart, so that if there is any jerking or things, it won't effect.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Therefore we want him to take Prabhupāda. (Bhakti-caru translates)

Bhakti-caru: He says in this condition he can even take Prabhupāda to London. (chuckling) He was thinking that due to the climatic condition here, he could have improved better, because it's a dry climate.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Where? Here?

Bhakti-caru: Vṛndāvana.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: As opposed to . . .

Bhakti-caru: Māyāpur.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: The climate in Māyāpur is damp now?

Bhakti-caru: Bengal is little damp as compared to North India, I mean U.P.

Kavirāja: Inki bimari ke liye ye desh bahut achha hai. (For his disease, this place is very suitable.)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: These days here. But unfortunately you cannot stay here. (Bhakti-caru translates, kavirāja answers) (whispered comments by Svarūpa Dāmodara as he translates for Tamāla Kṛṣṇa)

Bhakti-caru: I was telling him that . . . I mean, that he's facing great difficulty preparing the medicines also here. He says that it's been done, dose of medicine for twenty days has been prepared. Like today also he has got to go for six hours, and he's going to make . . .

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: The main point is that we would very much be glad if he is able to periodically, every day or every other day, whatever the requirement, to check up on Prabhupāda. What we are afraid is that for twenty days he will not be present to check up. This other man is not competent.

Bhakti-caru: No, he didn't say it in that relation also. He just said . . . I told him that medicine being a big problem. Maharaj ji ne bolte hai, humne socha ki aap bis roj ke liye dawai deke chale jate hai. To whoever . . . dekhiye bis roj ke bich me jo, hum log chahte hai ki , har roj nahi to ek din bad aap log ake pura check kar lijiye. (What Mahārāja Ji (Tamāla Kṛṣṇa) is saying that we have thought if you give us medicine for twenty days and then leave. Then whoever . . . within these twenty days timeline, we want that everyday or every alternate day you arrange for a thorough checkup.)

Kavirāja: Nahi to, inka to progress hota jayega dhire dhire. Manlo baki hai . . . Achha abhi hum tin roj me dete hai na, koi girawat nahi hai. Achha hai. (No no, he will gradually progress for the better. Even if you think something is not proper . . . for the last three days I have given him medicine, his situation is not deteriorating. He is progressing.)

Bhakti-caru: He says during these last three days there has been only development.

Kavirāja: Progress.

Bhakti-caru: Only progress.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yeah, we haven't seen anything regressive.

Svarūpa Dāmodara: And Prabhupāda is taking rest also, quite comfortably.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: It appears hopeful.

Bhakti-caru: Ha, jabse aap aye hai . . . (Yes, since when you have come . . . )

Kavirāja: Swasth thik ho raha hai. Swasth thik hota hi chala jayega. Achha oha ka climate thik hai inke liye. Baki swasth ki . . . (indistinct) . . . Iha das roj me thik honge to oha bis roj me, ek mahine thik honge. Ye climate aisa hai. . . . (indistinct) . . . (Health is improving. Health will now keep on improving. Other health related . . . (indistinct) . . . he will get well in ten days here and there it will take twenty thirty days to get well. This is the influence of climate . . .)

Bhakti-caru: He says that he could have been cured in ten days here, but there it will take twenty days to a month due to the climatic condition.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: He says that due to climatic condition, what would take ten days to cure here will take twenty days to thirty days in Māyāpur. The climate is not . . .

Kavirāja: Bangal me hi Māyāpur keya. Bangal se to Māyāpur ka thik hai weather. Ye Bangal jo desh hai na, wo anab desh hai. Aur inko jo hai ye sleshma ki bimari hai. Anab desh me bayu aur sleshma barta hai. (In Bengal, what to say about Māyāpur. Still it is better weather in Māyāpur than normal Bengal weather. But this land of Bengal, it is called "anab" land. And he is having problems with mucus. In the land of "anab", mucus increases.)

Bhakti-caru: Anab matlab? (What do you mean by "anab"?)

Kavirāja: Anab, wo desh anab hai, ye hamara mishra desh hai. (Anab, that land is called "anab", that place have a mixed up weather.)

Bhakti-caru: Oh achha. (Oh well.)

Kavirāja: Aur wo jungle desh hai Rajasthan jo. To iha se jungle ka to aur bhi sab se . . . Switzerland ke barabar hai uska climate. (And that land is called "jungle", like in Rajasthan. From the land of "jungle" many other . . . the climate there is almost like Switzerland.)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: But the real issue is this. The real issue is that although we were sitting here in the best climate, Prabhupāda was getting worse until he came. So the real point is not the climate but the doctor. (Bhakti-caru translates)

Kavirāja: To fir le chaliye. Bhagawan ka nam leke le chaliye inko. Kiyu Maharaj? Aur keya. (Then take him out from here. By taking the name of the Lord let him move out from here. What do you say Mahārāja? What else?) (laughter)

Prabhupāda: Subhasya sighram. (What is good should be done at the earliest.)

Kavirāja: Subhasya sighram, bas aur keya hai. (What is good should be done at the earliest. What else is there.)

Prabhupāda: So you arrange tomorrow?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Okay.

Bhakti-caru: Tomorrow or day after, Śrīla Prabhupāda?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: It may be better the day after, if you give us one extra day for booking. I don't know if we can get that many seats. If we leave the day after tomorrow morning?

Bhakti-caru: Parso. Parso subah. Jane ko bandobast ho raha hai. (The day after tomorrow. Day after tomorrow morning. Arrangements are being made for departure.)

Kavirāja: Okay.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Okay. So we'll arrange the seats. You want to show that urine color? You have some sample you kept?

Bhakti-caru: Yes. I'll ask him.

Kavirāja: Ha kam hua. Ye dekhie, . . . (indistinct) . . . (Yes it got reduced. Just see this . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: . . . (indistinct) . . .

Kavirāja: Inka sabse bara relief ka, inka urine baria ayega relief ki taraf me. Main ek signal ye hai. (The most major symptom of relief for him, the urine is getting good, indicating his relief. This is one of the main signal.)

Bhakti-caru: Hmm. (Yes.)

Hṛdayānanda: The most important thing is that the urine is not decreasing. (indistinct comments)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: The urine was a little brown today. You can explain.

Bhakti-caru: Hmm. Yah. (Hmm. Yes.)

Kavirāja: Khasi ka keya, khasi aya raat me? (Did cough bother you at night? Did you experience coughing in night?) (laughter)

Bhakti-caru: Khasi to raat ko hua tha. Balki abhi to kam hai. (At night coughing was there. But now it is not there.)

Prabhupāda: Raat me aya tha. (At night coughing was there.)

Kavirāja: Aya? (It was there?) (indistinct comments)

Kavirāja: Humko to Maharaj yeh kuch lagta hai aap apne ichha se karte hai khasi ko leke. Subah itna tha, din me thik ho gaya. Raat ko thik ho jata hai, din me thoda kar lete hai. (It seems to me that Mahārāja is sometimes intentionally doing this coughing. In the morning it was there then at day time it got okay. At night it becomes okay and then in day time you do this little coughing.) (laughter)

Bhakti-caru: He says Prabhupāda is doing all this . . . (indistinct) . . . pastime. (break)

Śatadhanya: Did you talk to Srila Prabhupāda?

Kavirāja: Dab lete nahi? (Does he not take coconut water?)

Bhakti-caru: Dab dea the, sardi tha. To abhi to, aaj de denge? (I gave him coconut water earlier, but it was cold nowadays. For now, should I give him now?)

Kavirāja: Ha aaj de dijiye. Kiyu Maharaj dab lenge? (Yes you can give it today. Mahārāja will you take coconut water?)

Prabhupāda: Hmm? (What?)

Kavirāja: Dab piyenge. (Will you take coconut water?)

Prabhupāda: Ḍāb? Ichha to nahi. (Coconut water? I don't have any desire to take it.)

Kavirāja: Ichha nahi, jane dijiye. Nahi chahete hai toi nahi chahiye. (No desire, then leave it. If he doesn't want it then don't give it to him.)

Bhakti-caru: He's asking whether Śrīla Prabhupāda would like to take some ḍāb water.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: What did Śrīla Prabhupāda reply?

Svarūpa Dāmodara: He said no.

Bhakti-caru: He said he doesn't have the desire to drink.

Kavirāja: Acha aaj wo laga denge hum. Go mutra aaj mangaye. Go mutra mangaye? Nahi? (Today I will apply that. Have you brought cow urine today? You brought cow urine? No?)

Bhakti-caru: Go mutra mil jayega. (Cow urine we can get.)

Kavirāja: Thora sa . . . (Just a little . . .)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Cow milk.

Kavirāja: Raat ko tel lagaye ye? Oil sarso wala tel? (Did he rub the oil at night? Oil, mustard oil?)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Cow urine?

Kavirāja: Raat ko nahi lagaya? (He didn't put it at night?)

Bhakti-caru: Did he get oil at night?

Śatadhanya: Yes.

Bhakti-caru: Hmm. (Yes.)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Cow urine?

Bhakti-caru: Did he get oil at night?

Bhavānanda: An oil massage.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: What to do with the cow urine?

Bhakti-caru: Cow urine, that paste . . . (Kavirāja interrupts)

Kavirāja: Achha tatti kab hua tha inko? (When did he passed stool?)

Bhakti-caru: Tatti kal rat ko hua tha. (Last night he passed stool.)

Kavirāja: Tatti hua. Aur kaise . . . loose hua kaisa? (Well passed stool. How was it . . . was it loose?)

Bhakti-caru: How was the stool?

Śatadhanya: It was soft and a medium amount.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: What color was it?

Kavirāja: Achha color keya tha? Color. (What was the color?)

Śatadhanya: It was brown, dark brown.

Kavirāja: Huh? Brown-color tha? (What? It was brown colored?)

Bhakti-caru: Aur ye medium bas. Hard bhi nahi tha soft bhi nahi tha. (And it was medium type. It was neither too hard nor too soft.)

Kavirāja: Thik hai. (Okay.)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Dark brown. Dark color. You have to ex . . .

Śatadhanya: And it was soft.

Bhakti-caru: Yes. Not watery, but . . .

Śatadhanya: It was soft.

Kavirāja: Nahi kuch to . . . naram tatti to thik hai. Jada . . . jada hard bhi thik nahi hai. Aaj keya khayenge. Keya ichha hai Maharaj khane ka? (No there is some . . . soft stool is okay. Too much hard stool is not good. What you will eat today. What you wish to eat today Mahārāja?)

Prabhupāda: Khane ka koi fal ka jo . . . (For eating some fruit . . .)

Kavirāja: Juice.

Prabhupāda: Ha, juice hai. Ohi khayenge. (Yes fruit juice. That I will take.)

Kavirāja: Juice.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Just drinking fruit juice, it doesn't seem like Prabhupāda will get much strength. (Bhakti-caru translates)

Bhakti-caru: To parikrama ke baad thoda sa dudh aur barley . . . (So after the circumambulation is done, little milk and barley . . .)

Kavirāja: Ha de dijiye. Barlie me milake de dijiye. (Yes give it. Add barley and give it.)

Prabhupāda: Horlicks me barley thik hoga. (Better to add barley in horlicks.)

Kavirāja: Ha. (Okay.)

Bhakti-caru: Wo dawai dene so cough nahi hoga? (There will be no cough if we give that medicine.)

Kavirāja: Na na, cough nahi hoga. Cough waf nahi hota, aisa kal ho gaya tha koi khas baat nahi. Kyun ki abhi taka to inko chahiye na. Humko to jana hi chahiye. To barley anna. Wo to rishi o ka anna Maharaj. Jo jo hai na, ye anna jo hai arse anna hai ye. Hamare jitne bare nare rishi the, Biswamitra, Jamadagni, Bharadwaj sab ye anna khate the. (No no, there will be no cough. Coughing should not have happened, somehow it happened yesterday, it's not such a big issue. Because now he needs strength. We need to move out. Therefore barley rice. Rishi's used to take these rice maharaj. This rice, this is arse rice. All the big big rishis like Biswamitra, Jamadagni, Bharadwaj all of them used to take this rice.)

Prabhupāda: Kitna barley, kitna dudh wata dijiye. (How much barley, how much milk to be used, please mention that.)

Kavirāja: Ha to wo to karib ek tola, der tola barley dalenge. Ek tola, 10 gram karib. Adha kilo pani chahiye. (Yes approximately one "tola", one and half "tola" can be given. One "tola" is approximately ten grams. Half kilogram water will be needed.)

Bhakti-caru: Oh. Do chamach. (Oh. Two tablespoons.)

Kavirāja: Ha do chamach. Adha kilo pani pakayenge. Pakte pakte jab pak jayega, sukh jayega na, tab usko chan lenge. (Yes, two tablespoons. Will boil half kilogram water. To continue boiling and when it will dry up, we will take it out and filter it.)

Bhakti-caru: Achha. (Okay.)

Kavirāja: Chanke uske andar dudh milake de denge. (After filtering, need to add milk with it and then serve.)

Bhakti-caru: To dudh aur dawai leke, 200 gm dudh me 50 gm pani dalke . . . (So the milk and the medicine included, will add 50gm water with 200 gm milk . . .)

Kavirāja: Ha. (Yes.)

Bhakti-caru: Aur dawai deke. Pani uwalke. (And then will add medicine. After boiling the water.)

Kavirāja: Pani jal jayega to fir de dijiye. (The water will almost burn out, then give it.)

Bhakti-caru: To chak ke dawai andar kar ke . . . (Then after filtering, will add the medicine . . .)

Kavirāja: Dudh aise aise nikaliye, unse mila dijiye. Kaf waf kuch nahi hoga. (Take the milk the way I said and mix it. Then there will be no coughing.)

Bhakti-caru: Madhu du ya michri du? (Should I give honey or candy?)

Kavirāja: Michri hi de dijiye. (Give him candy.)

Bhakti-caru: Michri. (Okay candy.)

Kavirāja: Hu. (Yes.)

Bhakti-caru: Achha. (Okay.)

Kavirāja: Wakt to subah . . .(indistinct) . . . dete hai? (In the morning do you give him . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Bhakti-caru: Ha subah . . .(indistinct) . . . mei diya hai aur . . .(indistinct) . . . usse prasad bhi diya tha. (Yes in the morning I gave him . . . (indistinct) . . . and after that prasad I also gave.)

Kavirāja: Bas thik hai. Ekdum thik hai. (Okay good. That's perfect.)

Bhakti-caru: Aur kal raat ko bhi madhu diya tha. (And gave him honey yesterday night.)

Kavirāja: Bahut sundar. (Very nice.)

Bhakti-caru: Aur do number dawai jo hai, wo madhu ke sath hi milake de dete hai. (And the number two medicine that we have, we mix it with honey and then give.)

Kavirāja: Hu. Wo to tonic hai. Heart tonic hai, aise tonic hai. Jaise Maharaj khaye the na makardhawj, makardhawj ke barawar tonic hai wo. (Okay. Those are tonic. Heart tonic and other tonic. Like Mahārāja had taken makardhwaj earlier, this tonic is equivalent to makardhwaj.)

Bhakti-caru: Ok. Achha. (Okay. Well.)

Kavirāja: Wo keya nam. Medicine do number ka. (I forget the name. The number two medicine.)

Bhakti-caru: Oh achha. (Oh well.)

Kavirāja: Do number ka medicine jo hai. Use bara strength rehta hai . . . (The number two medicine that you have. It gives good strength . . .)

Kavirāja: Aap ka ichha bhi hai to Maharaj wohi chaliye to thik hai. (If you wish then let's go there, it will be alright.)

Prabhupāda: Chaliye. (Let's go.)

Kavirāja: Aur dusri baat ye hai ki ek climate ka bhi ey hai. Humko yaad aya hai (verse) mane jaha iha parthib sarir jahape paida hota hai, jis pradesh me, oha ka jalabayu uske liye bisesh anukul rehta hai. Jaise humlog Rajasthan ke hai, to humara Rajasthan ka jal anukul parega. (And the other thing is that climate is also one factor. Now I remember one sloka (verse) which means that where this mortal body has taken birth, in which state, for him the climate of that place is most suitable. Say for example we are from Rajasthan, so the climate of Rajasthan will be most suitable for me.)

Bhakti-caru: Hum. (Okay.)

Kavirāja: So mitti ka , mitti ka hisab hai na ye to. Isliye Ram Balaram Krishna ka ichha hai, chaliye baria se baria kam. (So all these are the calculations of the earthly component. Therefore if this is the wish of Lord Rama, Balarama, Kṛṣṇa, then it will be good.)

Prabhupāda: Ab jaga change karne ka koi jarurat nahi. Aap ke upar bharosa karke . . . mare hai, bas. (Now there is no need to change places frequently. We are depending on you . . . if death comes, let it come.)

Kavirāja: Bat ye hai ki jitne mere buddhhi haiu, aur jaise maine samjha hai, mai samajhta hu ki Ayurved me iske upar koi treatment nahi hai jo hum de rahe hai apko. (The thing is that as far as my intelligence goes and as far as my understanding is on this subject, in my opinion in Ayurveda there is no higher treatment available than that I am giving you.)

Prabhupāda: Hmm. (Okay.)

Kavirāja: Jitna mere ko gyan hai mere hisab se. Baki to man lo mere se bhi jada jada pare hue hai. Baki koi kasar nahi rakhenge hum aap ki chikitsa ke andar. Aur asha bhi ehi hai ki aap thik ho jayenge. (As per my knowledge, whatever knowledge I have on this subject. Although there are many people out there who have studied more. Whatever it may be, I will not leave any stone unturned in your treatment. And it is my hope that you will be okay.)

Prabhupāda: To thik aise hi kijiye. (Then please do whatever makes you feel better.)

Kavirāja: Bas thoda thoda thoda thoda khane ki aap chesta karenge . . . aise dawai se to hum karayenge. But ye sahyog aap dijiye, ki nahi anna nahi jayega, ya koi chiz direct andar nahi jayega . . . (Just you try to eat something in little little quantities . . . else I am doing it with medicine. But I need this cooperation from you that no rice, nothing else should reach the body directly . . .)

Prabhupāda: Ye dudh barley hai na. (This milk and barley is there.)

Kavirāja: Ha wo thik hai bas. Wo thik hai. Mane dudh barley ki thodi dhire dhire quantity badhana, oh thik hai. (Yes that's all right, all right. I mean gradually the quantity of milk and barley needs to be increased, that's all right.)

Bhakti-caru: Achha barley ka adha kilo pani kitna hoga? Jada . . . (Well if we take half kilogram of water how much will it become? Not less . . .)

Kavirāja: Adha kilo pani , jada se jada bachega to dhaiso gram bachega. (Half kilogram of water, maximum it will become two hundred and fifty grams.)

Bhakti-caru: Achha. Adha ho jayega. (Okay. It will become just half.)

Kavirāja: Ha. Adha se bhi kam rehta hai. (Yes. Actually it gets reduced to even less than half.)

Bhakti-caru: Achha. (Okay.)

Kavirāja: Agar usse milk mil jayega to fir wo bari taquatwar ho jayegi. Bahut hi . . . mane barabar jo subah barley khata hai wo admi kabhi kamjor hote hai. Barley to bahut baria chiz hai. (If milk is added to that then it will become very energetic. Very energetic . . . a person who takes barley in the morning on a regular basis can't become weak. Barley is a very good thing.)

Bhakti-caru: Parikrama me pehle to . . . (indistinct) . . . (Before the circumambulation happens . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Kavirāja: Parikrama me jayenge keya? (Will he go for circumambulation?)

Bhakti-caru: Ha. Srila Prabhupāda ajke parikramai jaben? (Yes. Srila Prabhupāda will you go for the circumambulation today?)

Prabhupāda: Hmm. (Yes.)

Bhakti-caru: Ha , jayenge. (Yes, he will go.)

Kavirāja: Zaroor le jaiye. (Take him for sure.)

(indistinct background conversation)

Kavirāja: Plane me jo aap bole , tin sit to alag alag site hai. (Well you said about the plane, but the seating arrangements are separate there.)

Bhakti-caru: Nahi, beech ka jo sit hai. Utha sakta hai. (No, it sits in the middle portion. That can be lifted.)

Kavirāja: Utha sakta hai? (It can be lifted?)

Bhakti-caru: Oh achha achha. Beech ka . . . side me to do do type er achhe. Aut beech ka jo sit hai. (Oh okay, okay. The middle portion . . . in the side rows two, two seats are there. And the seats are there in the middle portion.)

Kavirāja: Nahi nahi. Tin idhar , tin idhar hai . . . aisa ho tha. Boeing ke andar jo hai wo tin aur do hai, aisa hai. (No no. Three in one row, three in another row . . . it was like that. Inside a Boeing airplane there you may have three and two seated rows.)

Bhakti-caru: Ha. (Yes.)

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Achha do baju me hai , aur beeh me tin hai. (Well two are on the side and three in the middle.)

Bhakti-caru: Achha. . . . (indistinct) . . . ke baad . . . (indistinct) . . . (Okay, after . . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Kavirāja: . . . (indistinct) . . . Tin idhar, tin idhar. (. . . (indistinct) . . . three this side and three that side.)

Svarūpa Dāmodara: One 737.

Bhakti-caru: Na 707. (No, it's 707.)

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Oh 707.

Kavirāja: Hum log aye the wo tin tin tha. (In which we came had three three segregation.)

Prabhupāda: . . . (indistinct) . . . na? (Are we not . . . (indistinct) . . .?)

Kavirāja: Nahi. (No.)

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Nahi 737 . . . (indistinct) . . . (No, 737 . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Kavirāja: Boeing bara biman hota hai. (Boeing planes are big.)

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Hmm. Bahut bara. (Yes. Very big.)

Kavirāja: Mai to barabar yatra karta hu, mujhe to koi farak nahi laga. Boeing me bhi aisa hi hai, isme bhi aisa hi hai. (I travel regularly and I don't find any difference. In Boeing it's like this and in others it's like that only.)

Bhakti-caru: Ha. Subidha wohi hai ki Boeing rokta nahi hai. Aap jo aye ho to halt kar ke. (Yes. But the benefit is that Boeing doesn't halt in between. The plane that you had come, that halts in between.)

Kavirāja: Nahi Boeing me chalenge. Kiun ki char ghante me tiredness ho jayenge sab admi. (Yes we will go by Boeing. Because in four hours everyone will become tired.)

Bhakti-caru: Jayenge to Boeing me hi. (Will go by Boeing only.)

Prabhupāda: Boeing me? (By Boeing?)

Kavirāja: Boeing sidha jata hai. Do ghanta das bara minute me pauch jayega. Aur wo jata hai char ghante me. (Boeing goes directly there. In two hours and ten twelve minutes we will reach. But that one takes four hours to reach.)

Bhakti-caru: Hmm. (Yes.)

Kavirāja: To sidhe udhar chalenge. Fir age fir do tin, tin ghnate me, dhire dhire gari chalegi. To tin ghante char ghante lag jayenge Māyāpur tak bhi. Dumdum se. (So we will go directly there. Then again for the forward journey, two or three hours, three hours it may take—the car will run slowly. So it will take three to four hours to reach Māyāpur. From Dumdum.)

Bhakti-caru: Srila Prabhupāda ekhon brush korben to. (Will you brush your teeth now Srila Prabhupāda?)

Prabhupāda: Hmm? (What?)

Bhakti-caru: Mukh dhoben? (Will you wash your mouth?)

Prabhupāda: Hm. (Okay.)

Kavirāja: Oha inko hum ek roj chorke ek roj dekh sakte hai. Ye bat thik hai. (There I can see him every alternate day. That will be good.)

Bhakti-caru: Ha. (Yes.)

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Uske liye to Prabhupāda ke uha jana hai. (For that you have to go to Prabhupāda's place.)

Kavirāja: Nahi nahi, chahte hai jaise ye karenge. Inke ichha ke mafik kam karna hai na. (Yes, as he wants, I will do that. We have to act as per his desire only.)

Bhakti-caru: To dawai aaj banayenge? (Will you make medicine today?)

Kavirāja: Banake sath me banayenge aaj. Wo sab dho diye hai na. Dawai kharid na hai aaj. (Yes I will make it today. Those things we have washed now. We will purchase medicine today.)

Bhakti-caru: Kitne baje jana hai? (When will you go?)

Kavirāja: Wo iha prasad leke chale jayenge. Bara baje. (After taking prasad we will go. At 12 noon.)

Bhakti-caru: Bara baje. Thik hai. (At 12 noon. Okay.)

Kavirāja: Kiyuki oha pach chai ghanta lagega. (Because it will take five to six hours there.)

(indistinct conversation)

Prabhupāda: Hamara, humlog kab jane ka nischit karte hai? To fir dawai badhane ka jaroorat. (Can you confirm when we are supposed to leave this place? According to that medicine also need to be increased.)

Kavirāja: Do dawai to ohi bhi chalega. (The same two medicines will also continue there.)

Prabhupāda: Oh. (Okay.)

Kavirāja: Dawai chalega. Aur iha rat ko kin liya Mathura se le aye na, usko pani me bhigo diya hai. Arak banega wo to. (Medicine will continue. And at night the medicine that we purchased from Mathura was kept under water. Some fermented liquid will be made from that.)

(indistinct conversation)

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Prabhupāda wants to sit up.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: You want to sit up, Śrīla Prabhupāda?

Kavirāja: Potli ko nikal de. (Remove that bundle.)

(indistinct conversation)

Prabhupāda: . . . (indistinct)

(Prabhupāda washing mouth and being bathed)

Devotee sings:

śrī-guru-caraṇa-padma, kevala-bhakati-sadma,
bando muñi sāvadhāna mate
jāhāra prasāde bhāi, e bhava toriyā jāi,
kṛṣṇa-prāpti hoy jāhā ha'te

(From Sri Guru Carana Padma by Narottama Dasa Thakura)

"The lotus feet of our spiritual master are the only way by which we can attain pure devotional service. I bow to his lotus feet with great awe and reverence. By his grace one can cross the ocean of material suffering and obtain the mercy of Kṛṣṇa."

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Śrīla Prabhupāda, after bathing you'll go on parikramā? (aside) You can inform the temple that Prabhupāda will go on parikramā. You feel satisfied with this kavirāja, Śrīla Prabhupāda?

Prabhupāda: Hmm.

(singing continues)

guru-mukha-padma-vākya, cittete koribo aikya,
ār nā koriho mane āśā
śrī-guru-caraṇe rati, ei se uttama-gati

(From Sri Guru Carana Padma by Narottama Dasa Thakura)

"My only wish is to have my consciousness purified by the words emanating from his lotus mouth. Attachment to his lotus feet is the perfection that fulfills all desires."

Bhavānanda: . . . over there. We'll bring fresh gaṅgā-jala every day. Sweetest. When I was on the boat preaching, I never drank anything but gaṅgā-jala. I took my bath in the Gaṅgā three times a day. So spiritually enlivening.

Prabhupāda: Three times a day !

Bhavānanda: I bathe.

Prabhupāda: Oh! When is your date for appearing in the court?

Bhavānanda: Twenty-ninth of December, which is the appearance day of your Guru Mahārāja, Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura. We have to appear that day.

Prabhupāda: Twenty-ninth December.

Bhavānanda: Twenty-ninth December.

Bhakti-caru: It's a long way to go, actually.

Bhavānanda: Long way.

Bhakti-caru: About two months.

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Two months. That's in Navadvīpa?

Bhavānanda: In Krishnanagar. The magistrate who is hearing the case is a real gentleman—very kind, understanding. He had been to Māyāpur about three or four months before this incident. He came with his wife and children. We gave him very nice prasādam and showed him the movie "Hare Kṛṣṇa People." And on the twenty-fifth of November, that's Rāsa-pūrṇimā festival, and that is big day at Māyāpur. In three days probably over half million people will come to the temple. We sell so many books, magazines. It never used to be like that, Śrīla Prabhupāda, until you built this center. Now the Rāsa-pūrṇimā festival has turned into a big, big event in Bengal. Everyone comes to Māyāpur on, like, pilgrimage, just like Dol-pūrṇimā. Thousands and thousands and thousands of people, they come. Twenty-fifth of November.

Svarūpa Dāmodara: Yes, in Vṛndāvana, it's . . . (break)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Amra dhonno. Eta kichhu dukhho nai. . . . (indistinct) . . . Sokkoler ei obostha. (We are blessed. There is no sorrow . . . (indistinct) . . . the situation is the same for everyone.)

Prabhupāda: Apnar . . . (Your . . .)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Ta apnar buddhhi. Buddhhi ja ache . . . profullota achhe . . . siddhanta thik achhe . . . (indistinct) . . . Matha mondiro korlen, bigroho prochar korlen, ederke sob uddhar korlen. Era to . . . (indistinct) . . . (Your intelligence. You have intelligence . . . you are joyful . . . the conclusions are all appropriate . . . (indistinct) . . . you have made so many temples and ashrams, established Deities, rescued all these people. They were . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: Ekhon amar ichha Govardhan . . . (Now my desire is Govardhan . . .)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Ha. (Yes.)

Prabhupāda: Porikrama kara. (To circumambulate.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Obossyo. (Of course.)

Prabhupāda: Sobcheye boro kotha hochhe. (The most important thing is that.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Boro kotha. Māyāpur . . . (indistinct) . . . koyekdin onusthan korun na. (Most important thing. In Māyāpur . . . (indistinct) . . . there you can do some programs for a few days.)

(mixed conversation)

Ānanda Mahārāja: . . . (indistinct) . . . Tate Prabhupad, Bhaktivinod Thakur, Gaura Kishore Das Babaji maharaj, Jagannath Das Babaji maharaj . . . Panchatatva to achen bigroho okhane. There Prabhupāda (BSST), Bhaktivinoda Thakur, Gaura Kishore Das Babaji Mahārāja, Jagannath Das Babaji Mahārāja . . . Pancha Tattva deity is also present there. So after going you just give it to the lotus feet of Guru Mahārāja. Some were against the idea of sannyāsā, but you show them that this is authentic. The western Vaisnavas and the Vaisnavas from east . . . (indistinct) . . . you mix them up completely. Let there be an idol of you and an idol of Prabhupāda. (BSST))

Prabhupāda: Krishnodas babaji, amader . . . (indistinct) . . . e thakte thake, bolechilen je apni jodi ekta hall kore den. (Krishna Das babaji, while he was staying in . . . (indistinct) . . . he requested me to make a hall there.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Hmm. (Okay.)

Prabhupāda: Ami kore dite raji achi. (I am ready to make that hall.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Eta siggiri siggiri jemon hoye jai. Seta apnader dwara hobe aar karu dwara hobe na. Apnara jara onek kaaj korlen, Prabhupāda (BSST), Mohaprabhu . . . eita amader . . . (Please let it be done as soon as possible. Only you people can do it, it can't be done by anybody else. You people have done great amount of work, Prabhupāda (BSST), Mahāprabhu . . . ours is this one . . . (indistinct) . . . will be done. Once this is done then everything is completed fully . . . (indistinct) . . . Vaisnavas will go and perform kirtana. They will stay, take prasad, and do whatever else is required. Let the hut also be there, new . . . (indistinct) . . . people would hear . . . (indistinct) . . . now listen to this, once Prabhupāda (BSST) began circumambulation of Vṛndāvana at Mathura, Banoyari prabhu was there. One muslim person came there to pass stool. As soon as he sat there . . . (indistinct) . . . he began to shout. Nityananda prabhu was also there. He chased him with a stick. He said: "No sir I haven't come here to steal, I came here to pass stool." . . . (indistinct) . . . this was my prayer to you. You will go to Māyāpur . . . I will be staying here in Vṛndāvana. Please do remember me.)

Prabhupāda: Hmm, thakun. (Okay, you stay here.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Maser . . . (indistinct) . . . taka . . . (Money . . . (indistinct) . . . for monthly . . .)

Prabhupāda: Hmm? (Yes?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Maser . . . (indistinct) . . . taka . . . (indistinct) . . . taka lagbe amar. (Money . . . (indistinct) . . . for monthly . . . (indistinct) . . . I need money for that.)

Prabhupāda: Taka? (Money?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Ha . . . khabar. (Yes . . . food.)

Prabhupāda: Taka keno apni ekhane nea thakben? (Why will you stay here by taking money?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Eikhane Maharaj, ami to kotha bolte paribona kauke. Oder kotha bujhte paribona. Amaro buddhhi alada, eder buddhhi alada. Ei jonno ami . . . (indistinct ) . . . Amar shroddha lage thakite. (Here Mahārāja, I will not be able to communicate with them. Neither will I be able to understand their language. My thinking is different, their thinking will be different. For that reason I . . . (indistinct) . . . I feel respect.)

Prabhupāda: Hmm? (What?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Thakite shraddha lage. Dekhite shraddha lage. Asi, dekhasona kori, sob e pari. Kintu ekhantai . . . (indistinct) . . . Apni bhalo mone koren koriben. (I become respectful by staying here. I become respectful just by seeing. I come and I take care of things, almost all the things I can do. But here . . . (indistinct) . . . if you feel it will be good then only you can give.)

Prabhupāda: Kothai thakben? (Where will you stay?)

Take some rice and pulses and make khichdi, take any room where you don't face any problem. Stay there and perform bhajana. Do you have any objection to this idea?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: . . . (indistinct)

Prabhupāda: Nagad dite dite jodi abar bondho kore dei seta abar oporadh hoye jabe. (If they discontinue to pay you the monthly cash amount, then it will be an offense.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: . . . (indistinct) . . . Osubidha ki? (. . . (indistinct) . . . won't be a problem.)

Prabhupāda: Aar Māyāpur , Vrindabone kono tofat nei. (And there is no difference between Māyāpur and Vṛndāvana.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: . . . (indistinct)

Prabhupāda: Hmm. (Yes.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: . . . (indistinct)

Prabhupāda: Koto boyesh holo? (What is your age now?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Amar choushotti poishotti. (My age is about 64 or 65.)

Prabhupāda: Hmm? (Yes?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: . . . (indistinct)

Prabhupāda: Choushotti? (64?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Na sato aar chari. (No seventy and four.)

Prabhupāda: Oh.

Ānanda Mahārāja: Aar du char bochor achi mone hoi. (It seems I will stay another two to four years.)

You didn't have any disease so you were doing well. Since two years here . . . (indistinct) . . . this is also a matter of great astonishment . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: Age notun sob ghor hoyeche. Dotala bari. Dekhechen? (New rooms have been made. Two storied building. Have you seen?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Ha . . . (indistinct) . . . (Yes . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: Khub bhalo, bhalo. (All are very good.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Khub bhalo, bhalo hoyeche. (Yes, very good.)

Prabhupāda: Era to je kaaj ta korbe . . . (These boys, whatever they will do . . .)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Sob first class . . . (All are first class . . .)

Ānanda Mahārāja: . . . (indistinct) . . . Aschorjjo. Era sob jania sunia . . . medha o seirokom . . . (indistinct) . . . (. . . (indistinct) . . . amazing. These boys know and understand things well . . . they are very intelligent as well . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: Amra jokhon chelebelai boltam saheb subho. Saheber songe dekha hole subho hoye gelo. (In our childhood we used to say white people are auspicious. If you see a white person then it brings auspiciousness to you.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: (laughter) . . . (indistinct)

Prabhupāda: Ha? (What?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Bhaktivinod Thakur bolchen kina, setango sokolo, krishnango purusho - ha Nityananda, ha Gauranga boli kolakuli koriben. Eita Māyāpure olpo somoye hobe. Seta apni purno kore dilen. Chaitanya sikhhamrite kothai ei achhe. Ponchom ba Sostho . . . (indistinct) . . . (As Bhaktivinod Thakura has said, all the while people, the black people will say: "Ha Nityananda, Ha Gauranga" and embrace each other. This will happen in Māyāpur very soon. You have fulfilled that prophecy. This is there in Caitanya Siksamrita. Either in fifth or in sixth . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: Ke achhe ekhane? (Is there anybody here?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Ha, tara sob . . . (indistinct) . . . Ei darie achhe. (Yes, they all are . . . (indistinct) . . . standing here.)

Prabhupāda: Who is here?

Upendra: Śrīla Prabhupāda?

Prabhupāda: Ananda Prabhu ke ektu fol thol dao. (Please give Ananda Prabhu some fruits.)

Upendra: Huh, Śrīla Prabhupāda? In English?

Prabhupāda: Hmm? Oh. Give him some fruits.

Upendra: Yes.

Prabhupāda: Either whole fruit or . . .

Upendra: Either . . .?

Prabhupāda: Whatever is available . . . (break) Tamāla Kṛṣṇa? Where is Tamāla Kṛṣṇa?

Upendra: He's here.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Jaya Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Prabhupāda: Give him . . . (break) Sob Vrindabone, sob ei mondire ese ki bole? (So In Vṛndāvana all the people, what do they say after coming to this temple?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: E to sokoler anondo hoi moharaj. Bohu lok, ekhane joto lok asche, aar eto lok kothao jachhe na. Bazar bose geahce, hat bat, sob e ghora gari tarpore rickshaw, poripurno. Many people, the number of people come here, not that many people go anywhere else. Markets got set up outside, markets, horse driven carts, then rickshaws, it's perfect. The temples within the town are not so crowded . . . (indistinct) . . . you have fulfilled them all . . . (indistinct) . . . a King would not have accomplished what . . .)

Prabhupāda: Amar to mone hoyechilo je etto dure ke asbe? (I was thinking that will anyone come this far?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: (Laughter) Ekhon odike na gea edikei sokole asche. Aar murti dekhe bujhechen, obak hoye jachhe . . . (indistinct) . . . (Now everyone instead of going to that side they all come to this side only. And after seeing the Deities, they become wonder-struck . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: Asche bhaloi. Boi achhe bole . . . (indistinct) . . . (Good number of people are coming. Because books are there . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Ānanda Mahārāja: . . . (indistinct) . . . Akorshon korar moton . . . (indistinct) . . . (. . . (indistinct) . . . it attracts people . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: Aar sob mondir guloi kono boi nei. (In the other temples they don't have any books.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Na na boi nei. Seva nei, puja nei, kichhu nei, sringar o nei. Sob mlan hoye ache . . . (indistinct) . . . onno kothao eto ase na, ekhane joto aasche. (No no, the book is not there. They don't have service, don't have proper worship, nothing, not even Deity decoration is proper. All of them have become shine less.)

Prabhupāda: Aaj kal bhobbo byakti ra, bicar chai sunte. (Nowadays intelligent people, they want to hear logical arguments.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Ha ha . . . (indistinct) . . . purno kore dilen, bishal sankirtan joggadi . . . (indistinct) . . . (Yes, yes . . . (indistinct) . . . you have fulfilled that too, the enormous sankirtana yajna . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: . . . (indistinct)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Hmm. (Yes.)

Prabhupāda: Se sob hojom korte hobe. . . . (indistinct) . . . (All those reactions have to be tolerated . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Hari kotha apni onek bolechen, onek lok ke prosad deachen . . . (indistinct) . . . kotha jodi apni bole thaken . . . (indistinct) . . . Mohaprabhu somporke . . . (indistinct) . . . Na apni tachhillo korechen, na bhotsorna korechen . . . tar kotha. Apnar to kichu na, ei jogoter o to kichu na . . . (indistinct) . . . (You have discussed lot's of Hari katha, you have fed prasadam to lot's of people . . . (indistinct) . . . even if you have said some statements . . . (indistinct) . . . in regard to Mahaprabhu . . . (indistinct) . . . neither have you belittled anyone, nor have you rebuked anyone? . . . his statements. Those were not yours, nor anything of this world . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: . . . (indistinct)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Bhagawatam gronthe peye jabe . . . (indistinct) . . . Kalke Māyāpur jachhen. (They will get it in the Bhagavatam . . . (indistinct) . . . will you go to Māyāpur tomorrow?)

Prabhupāda: Ichhe to ache. Apni kobe jaben? (Yes I wish to go. When will you be going?)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Ami . . . (indistinct) . . . koyek din pore dekhi. (I will . . . (indistinct) . . . after a couple of days I will decide.)

Prabhupāda: Sekhane bhalo jaiga achhe. (Very good place is available there.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Ha . . . (indistinct) . . . (Yes . . . (indistinct) . . .)

Prabhupāda: Apni ashirbad . . . (You give your blessings . . .)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Achha . . . (indistinct) . . . (Well . . . (indistinct) . . .)

(break) Prabhupāda: Tamāla Kṛṣṇa? Where is Tamāla Kṛṣṇa?

Ānanda Mahārāja: Tamāla Kṛṣṇa.

Upendra: He's here.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Jaya Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Prabhupāda: Give him . . . (break)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yes Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Prabhupāda: Ajke ami 25 taka dea jachhi. (I am giving him Rs. 25 today.) (to Tamāla Kṛṣṇa) I have asked him to come to Māyāpur.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Hmm.

Prabhupāda: And he has agreed. So today give him twenty-five.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Thirty-five.

Prabhupāda: Twenty-five.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Twenty-five. Okay. Yes there is a big . . . remember that Gītā Pratiṣṭhāna conference?

Prabhupāda: Hmm?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Remember that Gītā Pratiṣṭhāna conference?

Prabhupāda: Hmm.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: So it's starting tomorrow. I just happened to notice Mr. Ramkrishna Bajaj is here and Shriman Narayan is here.

Prabhupāda: Oh.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: So probably tomorrow they'll want to come and see you.

Prabhupāda: Where they are beginning?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: They're all staying in the guesthouse. They've rented the whole guesthouse.

Prabhupāda:Oh.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: The conference is being held in the same room that they held the science conference. It's a very good credit for us that they're doing this. I just thought I would inform Your Divine Grace. So I'll just give him now twenty-five rupees.

Prabhupāda: Ajke 25 ta taka nea jan. (You please take Rs. 25 today.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Achha. (Okay.)

Prabhupāda: Aar pach. (Five more.)

Ānanda Mahārāja: Ha. (Yes.)

Prabhupāda: Jai. (break)

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: You know, the fact that he turned to Communism . . . probably he's intelligent but frustrated. That's why they turn to this Communism. And he has a very good upbringing, so much association. I mean Vṛndāvana had no association, but M.M. had a lot of association, not only with Your Divine Grace but with your Guru Mahārāja and Godbrothers. So perhaps with proper, little cultivation, he might . . .

Prabhupāda: You give him the scheme and ask him, and if he wants to discuss it, please come and see me.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: All right. But I won't have the amendment to the scheme until tomorrow night.

Prabhupāda: No, no. Amendment you can give later on.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Achha.

Prabhupāda: You can give the scheme.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Okay. I think I have a copy of it. All right. Yeah, that's good, Śrīla Prabhupāda. Then the letter will be better. I was thinking it should have, you know this first thing I write should include that scheme.

Prabhupāda: You give him the scheme. Ask him to come and discuss first.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yah. I'll do that. It's not very difficult for him to come to Māyāpur. All right.

Prabhupāda: So they can go to the temple now, this saṅkīrtana?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Let us go to the temple?

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: You want to go to the temple now?

Prabhupāda: Myself?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: No, I mean . . . you mean the devotees here?

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: You want them to go into the temple and perform kīrtana?

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Okay. And you'll hear it from here.

Prabhupāda: Hmm.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: All right. Temple without kīrtana doesn't have full life. Bhavānanda Mahārāja was just saying that this evening. The kīrtana party from Māyāpur, they went back today. Otherwise, every night they've been doing kīrtana for about five hours. Today they're not here because they're returning to Māyāpur. I was thinking today how you've always taken care of us so much and served us so much all of these years that now Kṛṣṇa is giving us a small little opportunity to just do a little service to you.

Prabhupāda: How many men, they have come?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I heard that somewhere between a 100 and 150. They reserved all the rooms of the guesthouse.

Prabhupāda: Hmm.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I told Bhakti-prema Swami to speak there on the subject of Fifteenth Chapter, fifteenth verse:

sarvasya cāhaṁ hṛdi sanniviṣṭo
mattaḥ smṛtir jñānam apohanaṁ ca
vedaiś ca sarvair aham eva vedyo
vedānta-kṛd veda-vid eva cāham
(BG 15.15)

Prabhupāda: They are looking after the book?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Are they looking after the book table?

Prabhupāda: Yes.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I'll have to find out from Viśāla how his book sales are doing.

Prabhupāda: Hundred-fifty men?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: I've been told between a hundred and a hundred and fifty. There's a lecture in the temple now, Śrīla Prabhupāda.

Prabhupāda: Hmm?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: The kīrtana can't be done in the temple just now because there's a lecture there.

Prabhupāda: Lecture?

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yes. Every evening there's lecture.

Prabhupāda: Oh.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Bhagavad-gītā lecture every evening in the temple.

Prabhupāda: That is also kīrtana.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Yes, Śrīla Prabhupāda. So I'll inform the organizer that when Ramkrishna jī and Shriman Narayan come, to inform them that they can come and see you. (end)
